LAKE HELEN, Fla. – Ellwood A. Titcomb, 87, a retired developer, passed away Dec. 17, 2011. Ellwood was born and raised in and around Brewer, graduating from the University of Maine, Orono.
He served in the Army during World War II and then went into the mobile home business with his father and brother in East Hartford, Conn. After living and developing in San Diego County, Calif., for many years he moved to Florida in 1979. Aviation was his passion for most of his life and he held many ratings. He loved to share this passion with friends and family. He flew for Angel Flight for five years as well.
He also enjoyed antique cars and club activities. He was active in Rotary with 39 years of perfect attendance.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra; three daughters, Judith Titcomb of DeLand, Fla., Muriel Szombathy of Big Bear, Calif., and Cynthia Lowe of East Lexington, Okla.; two sons, Kent of DeLand, Fla., and Ellwood of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, Fla.
