HOULTON – Margaret Patricia O’Donnell Fitzpatrick passed away Dec. 24, 2011. She was born June 16, 1927, at Madigan Memorial Hospital, Houlton, to William G. and Abigail Hogan O’Donnell.
She attended schools in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School in 1944. She took science classes at Ricker Classical Institute and then was a member of the class of 1948 at Madigan Hospital School of Nursing. She did general and private duty at Madigan Memorial and Aroostook General hospitals. She was the administrator at Dr. Eugene Gormley’s office for 18 years. After this she did home care until she fully retired in 1992. She was an active member of St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, having served as a board member, organist and sacristan, and worked on many projects. She was president of Houlton Council of Catholic Women, district president and vice president for Maine Diocese Council of Catholic Women.
She was married to Paul Fitzpatrick, June 27, 1950, and he died Sept. 29, 1985. Also predeceasing her were Clarice “Kiki,” in 1973, and Paula, in 2001. She is survived by Colleen Fitzpatrick Ondis of Pensacola, Fla., Patty McNutt of Windam, Paul of Fallbrook, Calif., Sara of Sacramento, Calif., Michael of Brewer; brother, Joseph E. O’Donnell of Carlsbad, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Dunn Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
