BANGOR, Maine — A Charleston man who spent more than two years in federal prison for possession of child pornography was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury on 10 counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
Carey E. Gonyer, 43, was charged in October with possession of sexually explicit material. He was not indicted Wednesday on that charge by the grand jury.
The charges involve one male victim who was 15 years old when the crimes allegedly took place, according to the Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office. The sexual abuse charges and the possession of pornography charge are related, Alice Clifford, assistant district attorney for Penobscot County, said after the grand jury handed up its indictments. She declined to say how they were related.
The pornography charge most likely has been turned over to federal prosecutors, but Gonyer has not yet been charged in U.S. District Court.
Gonyer is required to register as a sex offender because of his conviction in federal court in 2006.
He was on supervised release for that crime when some of the alleged abuse took place, according to Clifford.

Antonio Burgos, also known as Antonio Cruz, 42, Bangor, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking, refusing to submit to arrest.
Nichole B. Butterfield, 41, Bangor, theft by deception.
Jeffrey M. Chambers, 32, Holden, three counts of theft by unauthorized taking.
Robert Coburn Jr., 26, Orrington, aggravated assault.
Harry J. Coffin II, 41, Hampden, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, tampering with a witness or informant.
Edward E. Cogswell, 46, Bangor, two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
Terrence Davis, 49, Eastbrook, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Joseph Demmons, 27, robbery, theft by unauthorized taking, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Their is no cure, in my opinion for whatever personality disorder makes someone want someone else, to suffer this way. It is a form of cruelty; what makes a person this cruel- the power & control over another…only cure is to lock them up where they cannot inflict damage on others…& keep them locked up.

The guy is a disgusting perv for the kiddie stuff, but if it happened 10 times in the kid’s 15th year, and unless the kid has a handicap of some kind, wouldn’t this be statutory rape? Isn’t the age of consent 16, male or female? This guy disgusts me for the child porn alone, but the molestation of anyone pushing 16 is a different story. Put him away on the first count, but the second sounds a bit different and if no coercion existed, thats a whole different issue.

Our children have been targets of certain groups of people for a very long time, but too many express their “compassion” for the deviates who are out there, and the latter are allowed to live near those they want to violate.
Rehabilitation is not possible for those who commit such horrible atrocities on our children. Evidently, strict supervision is not so strict, either.
