BANGOR, Maine — Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports to determine how a child died Friday, according to Bangor police.
“An autopsy was performed over the weekend and is in the toxicology stage, which could take several weeks,” Sgt. Paul Edwards said in a press release.
The age and identity of the child were not released.
The death occurred at a residence on Allen Street.
Police were there Friday gathering evidence, according to a previously published report.
State law requires that investigations and autopsies be performed in cases involving the death of children under the age of 3.
May this family have a peaceful resolution to this tragedy. May you know your angel is with other Angels and safe.
Don’t count on several weeks for the toxicology results. My nephew died Sept 1, 2011 and we are still waiting for toxicology results. I am very sorry for you loss and hope you get closure soon.

The little boy was 21 days old when he passed away that tragic morning. the parents and entire family are extremely devastated. Bushfan, it’s an extremely IGNORANT assumption to assume it’s unlikely the tox results will come back clean. the autopsy (that was first requested by the parents before they knew it was SOP for a childs death under 3 by the state of maine) will show there was NO wrong doing by the parents. we’re dealing with enough losing a very precious life, that we don’t need to see the ignorant comments, keep your ASSuptions to your self…. To everyone else who has sent condolences and prayers, the family is extremely greatful for your support through our very trying times.
sorry to hear of this recent tragic loss. hope it was just one of those cases of something unpreventable and something natural that took place. hope it wasnt another case that invoved infant formula like i was reading about on another child in recent weeks. my heart and prayers are with the friends and family of this loss.

I ask that you and your family be held close during this awful time. I lost a son at 22 as well as 11 miscarriages. It does not matter how young or old a child is who dies, it is excruciatingly painful. Ignore the rude comments,some people have no home training as my grandmother used to say.
