WELLINGTON, Fla. – Charles Parker Corson, 86, died Dec. 30, 2011, at home. A resident of Wellington, Fla., since 2008, Charles was born April 26, 1925, in Exeter.
He attended Carmel schools and after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines, rose to the rank of third mate and served in the Atlantic during World War II. After serving his country, he joined the Benjamin Moore Paint Co. as a salesman and throughout the years rose to executive director of sales. Charles was a member of Bangor Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.
Charles survived his wife, Susanne, of 37 years together. He is survived by his son, Sheldon Corson of Searsport and his wife, Jeri, and grandchildren, Lani Corson of Astoria, N.Y., and Heather Corson-Alareon and her husband, Marlon, of Quito, Ecuador, South America; son, Philip Toher of Rumford and his wife, Cindy, and grandchildren, Katie Massie and Melissa Toher; son, Gregory Toher of Old Orchard Beach and his wife, Victoria, and grandchildren, Philip Toher and Gregory Toher, both of Windham, and Jessica Toher of Westbrook; daughter, Cynthia Toher-Smith of Wellington Fla. and her husband, Halsey Smith, and grandchildren, Zachary Smith and Kristofer Smith, both of Orlando, Fla.; son, Chris Toher of Mahwah, N.J., and his wife, Nancy, and grandchildren, Michelle Toher and Eric Toher; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a date to be announced in May 2012. Burial will be next to his beloved wife at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. For those who wish to remember Charles in a tangible way should make donations in his memory to Maine Cancer Society.
