MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – Dawna Rae (Ramsay) Shope passed away Dec. 22, 2011, at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 22, 1946, in the Bangor area.
Dawna later lived and attended schools in Benton, Fairfield and Presque Isle. After graduating from Presque Isle High School in 1964, she joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where she met and married David L. Shope of Middletown, Calif. They raised two daughters, Sonya Shope Garcia and Sierra Shope, both of California. Camping and fishing were her favorite pastimes. For many years she worked as a security guard for Trinchero Family Estates Winery, Napa, Calif.
In addition to her husband and daughters, she leaves three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, all of Middletown, Calif.; and sister, Barbara Stewart of Kingfield. Her parents, William and Hazel (MacEwen) Ramsay predeceased her. Dawna was loved and respected by many friends and family, and will be missed.
