BANGOR – John L. Hopkins, 89, died Jan. 3, 2012, at his home. He was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Bangor, son of Carlton and Marie (Jordon) Hopkins.
John served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He worked for and retired from Connecticut Natural Gas Corp., Hartford, Conn. He was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus, Council No. 11, Hartford, Conn.; and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Norman N. Dow Post No. 1761, Bangor.
He is survived by two brothers, Galen and Pauline Hopkins of Bangor, and Richard and Hazel Hopkins of Peabody, Mass.; sister, Rosemary and her husband, Joseph Parks, of Ipswich, Mass.; two stepgranddaughters, Linda Seiders and Denise Cyr; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
