LYMAN, Maine — York County sheriff’s deputies, along with rescue personnel, went to the scene of what appeared to be a self-inflicted shooting at Jackson’s Corner early Thursday, according to police.

Sheriff Maurice Ouellette said Thursday morning that the incident was reported around 11 a.m.

Later Thursday, the York County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the 51-year-old victim shot himself in the head and was clinging to life at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was treated at the scene by rescue personnel and taken to Southern Maine Medical Center before being sent to Maine Medical Center.

  1. We need to wait for the details. I’ve heard of accidents where people fall on their weapon and shoot their hand off. It has happened. Sure we will hear soon enough. So sad no matter how the pie is sliced…

    well , Im not going to speculate on the outcome
    of this tragic event.
