BRUNSWICK, Maine — Local police rushed Thursday morning to Sherwin Williams on Pleasant Street , where burglars reportedly stole $4,000 worth of large paint sprayers overnight Wednesday.

An employee arrived just before 7 a.m. Thursday to discover the glass front door of the business at 179 Pleasant St. had been smashed and six large paint sprayers had been stolen, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said Friday.

Police estimated damage to the door at approximately $1,000.

The case remains under investigation.

  1. “Local police rushed…”.
What was it about some missing paint sprayers that required rushing?  Or was it just poetic license on the author’s part? :-)

    1. My lovely wife, in the heat of passion, has been known to say:

“Beige! I think I will paint the ceiling beige!”

If that helps explain your question :)

  2. I think this story accidently crossed in the mail:

News story (1/5/2012): (AP) Brunswick- Local police station currently being renovated. A fresh coat of paint just applied from a private contractor Thursday morning-just one step in a much larger project, cutting the town a deal to provide Brunswick the ability to not increase taxes for this project. As most police cruisers were gone, responding to a call, the contractor finished the parking garage as well at a hurried pace. A local interview brought lots of cheers from local citizens, who applauded the town for seeking lower cost options and to shop around for the best price before applying it to a tax increase decision. “Excellent!!” said a local taxpayer. The contract went to first-timer, Whatasteelwhatadeal.com, a steel fabrication company from Texas. The current ad describes the benefits of a much cheaper option to fund large renovation projects: “We here at Whatasteelwhatadeal.com are trying to put back the justice in providing ways to better tax our society! We here at Whatasteelwhatadeal.com will contact our many agents around the country to start that project on the path back to civil taxation!! We will help your town lower your costs by sending out our special brand of lower cost workers. They get things done! They are street experienced to lower the overall cost of that special project! From wiring to painting to full steel construction! We are your deal to a Steel!!! We are… Whatasteelwhatadeal.com!!!

    he he.. just havin’ fun…
