BUCKSPORT – Dwight Walsh Collins, 61, died unexpectedly Jan. 5, 2012, at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1950, in Brookline, Mass., the son of Forrest and Ruby (Walsh) Collins.

Dwight graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1969. He served with the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1974. Dwight was a member of BTJ Pipefitters Union Local 716, retiring in 2010 after 36 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, especially in the Allagash. Dwight was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marla (Footman) Collins; a son, Jason Collins and his girlfriend, Angel, of Newark, Ohio; a daughter, Darci Wardwell and her husband, John, of Orland; a granddaughter, Isobel Wardwell; a stepmother, Vera Collins; a brother, Mike Collins of Bradley; three sisters, Linda Currier and her husband, Ken, of Allagash, Torrie Collins of Orono and Candy Collins of Bar Harbor; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Morneault and partner, Mary Jo Dempsey; a brother-in-law, Todd Footman; special friend, Joe Warren; his special buddy, Willie, an English springer spaniel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Forrest Collins Jr. and Scott Allen Collins; and a sister, Kitty Wardwell. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Interment will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Central Cemetery, Dedham.
