EDDINGTON, Maine — A man who broke into a home on Riverside Drive on Saturday afternoon and was shot in the foot by the homeowner is now behind bars on a charge of felony burglary, Deputy Chief Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said.
Darren Seidell, 30, a local transient originally from Florida, was discovered in the home of Peter and Carol Roderick when she returned home from grocery shopping at around 2:45 p.m., the deputy chief said.
“Peter was on the property but in another building,” Morton said. “When his wife came home he went to help carry in the groceries and they heard something upstairs. He confronted him.”
While heading upstairs, Peter Roderick told his wife to call police.
Peter Roderick, who said on Sunday that he has a concealed weapons permit, used a 9 mm handgun to shoot Seidell, who was wearing a ski mask, in the foot, Morton said.
“He was chased across the road” and first went left running behind one house, then circled around and entered a second house, 491 Riverside Drive, directly across the street from the Roderick’s, the deputy chief said.
Maine State Police and Penobscot County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene in force and searched the area around neighboring homes on Riverside Drive, which is also known as Route 178.
The family that lives at the house where Seidell was at, who said he had been staying there a couple days with a visiting relative, “waved us right in and brought us to him,” Morton said.
Seidell was removed from the house around 3:15 p.m. by an ambulance crew and taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was treated with an armed guard nearby. He was brought to the jail at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a jail official said Sunday morning.
Seidell, who was wanted for two outstanding warrants, “has a long criminal history in Maine,” Morton said. He was charged with felony burglary and was being held in jail on $20,000 cash bail. Seidell faces a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $20,000, if convicted.
He also has a conviction for failing to appear after bailed, which is why his bail is so high, Morton said.
Seidell has numerous convictions since 2006 including for aggravated criminal trespass, criminal mischief, terrorizing and assault to harassment by telephone, marijuana possession, theft, operarting without a license, violating protective orders and violating conditions of his release, according to prior court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.
Peter Roderick, who runs the Dragon Forge blacksmith shop out of his house, said on Sunday that he and his wife are doing OK. Their home was wrapped in yellow police tape after the shooting and the Sheriff’s Department’s mobile crime unit was parked in their driveway while investigators collected evidence.
“We’re fine,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of calls. A lot of people were worried about us.”

Whats there to call the mobil crime unit out for? The guy is lucky they did not have to call the medical examiner.
Agreed. If there is a jury they certainly need us on it. There definatly isn’t a need for a jury, no crime was commited other then the attempted robbery. There should be jail time for the robber.
” There definatly isn’t a need for a jury, no crime was commited other then the attempted robbery.”
Yeah, let’s not get into pesky little details to find the truth when we have a rather bland news story we can use to justify lynching someone…
What’s the detail that you’re looking for?
He was inside someone’s home when they got there, and was wearing a mask.
Maybe he thought it was Halloween? Maybe he had a good reason to be in there wearing a mask? Maybe he was “known to local deputies” for doing charity work?
I come home to a masked man, inside my house. First he better have gloves on because my little chihuaha leaves nasty little tasty bites on people. She is a barker, my redneck alarm system. If I didn’t hear her barking when we drove in, I would immediately grab my pistol. If something looked ify I would call 911. Then I would enter home, someone lives in my home at all times. I would go in a door never used, and see what was up.
I would just trigger my preset charges under the first floor, then go up to camp.
you forgot, Maybe Santa forgot to deliver a present?
RKBA in action !!! GOTTA Love it BABY !!!
It takes a real “Genius” to be a criminal in Maine where we rate 2nd highest gun ownership in the nation; & LOWEST in violent crime rate.
Maine, The way Life Should Be,…where the Crooks are idiots and and Homeowners are Cocked and Locked !!!
You know that the 2nd Ammendment protects the rights of the other 26 Ammendments.
Taketimeme to actually READ the Bill Of Rights before jumping on the DemLib freakout bandwagon.
Gun ownership ensures personal safety IF people are correctly Trained.
Yes, Terrible atrocities occur with guns, but unfortunate events transpire with automobiles, ladders, icy walking condition,s kitchen knives..etc. also, so are we going to restrict useage of these prior items…??? I think not.
When life and death are measured in Seconds, the Police are Only minutes away !
Peace & Love to all ! ;<)
The last 3 times I had to call police their response times were over 45 minutes. It depends on what part of the state u live in. Piscataquis county has 1 sherriff on after 10p.m. some nights and 11 p.m. other nights, 2 officers on weekends I think, unless budget cuts took that officer. When I am forced to call its after midnight, nothing good happens after midnight. That Piscatiquis County Sheriffs Department has way too many miles to monitor, its ridiculous. I have had great responses by their amazing officers, with apologies for lapse time. (They always tell me what town they had to drive from to get to me, at high speed, at night, with Moose and deer, very dangerous. These officers are brave and very professional officers.
My home at the moment, they would be here in minutes, but I would call state, not local. Local police here use their local mentality. Sad
In Belfast all you have to do is report someone for drunk driving, and all 20 cops on duty will be out to get, em’.
Lives in a rural area. Police response over 30 minutes away. Has several guns that are loaded within easy reach. Hopefully, the word will get out to scumbags that Mainers are armed and will protect their homes.
Maybe this combined with the media coverage of the single woman in rural Oklahoma who shot & killed an intruder will stop some of these morons from breaking into homes. I know if I was thinking of breaking into homes these stories might persuade me otherwise, but then again I am not a low life criminal breaking into homes.
You’re assuming that these thieves read the newspaper. Feeding your pill habit tends to take up much of their leisure time…
You need to tell Gov. Lepage that reading the paper should be mandatory for all convicted drug offenders, that would be worthwhile cause.
Stupidity can be fatal, good shooting by the way, and I hope the owner doesn’t regret his aim at a later time.
AGREED! Even hands are a weapon. There is no such thing in my oppinion as entering someones home without a weapon. How many women and children were killed without a gun? Let often but I bet there have been many men killed with no gun or knife. Women are strangled to death or beaten to death everyday.
This guy should realize how lucky he is ………………… it should have been H & H
Nice photo Gabor!
Good for the homeowner. This burglar was lucky that he didn’t get shot somewhere else!!
Without a wepon in his hand, Maine Laws do not allow shoot to kill, However,,,,,,,,,,,,, as long as he was facing the homeowner, taking off a kneecap with some buckshot would give him a lifetime of memories
Not very hard to throw a knife in is hands. I would do whatever it took to protect my family. Who is to say once he is released from jail he will not go after the homeowner. For his “pain and suffering” in jail.
Yeah the Maine laws cater to the criminals. Shoot the p.o.s in the head next time.
Maine – I am unsure of your analysis. Attached is a link to the legislation and I am unable to find anything requiring a weapon in hand. I am not an attorney however the law seems to read that deadly force can be used, and retreat is not required, by the person(s) rightly in the premise if someone enters without permission to prevent the infliction of bodily harm.

Oops, I see that yourmaineguy has beat me to it…
“Shoot to Kill”??
Your terminology comes out of 70s cop shows. You don’t have a clue as to what the law is, either.
Well Mr. RobertBeal55….let’s update your 70’s cop show to 2012….When in doubt, empty the magazine.
Always remember, dead men can’t testify.
Once he is dead in your home, it takes no more than laying one of your own kitchen knives in his hand, that he may have picked up in your home. You don’t even have to worry about your finger prints on it.
Well Said and Sound Advice!
You’re wrong. Read Maine Law Title 17, Part 1, Chapter 5, Section 108.
I think you mean Title 17-A. That is the statute we have been citing.
http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/statutes/17-A/title17-Ach0sec0.html
I stand corrected. I left off the “A”.
Maine laws MUST be changed. I have known many MEN to rape woman with no gun or weapon. Raping a woman is in itself a deadly assault of russion roullette. Who knows what he is going to leave her with AIDS, HEPETITIT, ect…. Vander Slooth and many, many men have used their HANDS to kill women and children. Recently a brick was used on a 9 year old girl. Strangulation comes to mind. A mans HANDS are his weapons, even if he isn’t trained in martial arts. I don’t know what is in his pocket, how trained he is, or how far he intends to go.
I have no intention to be laying prone down to find out that I waited too long to figure out what the hack he was doing in my home or breaking into my home. Either way, I’ve trained my daughters attack them first, ask questions later. Once they are in our space, we are not a match for harddened criminals.
T – I believe there is no need for Maine laws to be changed – please see my response below, it has a link to the laws surrounding this issue. Sounds as though you have educated your daughters well and I hope that they never find themselves in this situation – or anyone else. If there is anywhere individuals should feel safe it is in their homes, and violating the sanctity of that is a significant crime which has lasting effects on the victims.
Not true. The person needs to be 1) trespassing and 2) committing some other crime. The only caveat is you have to order them to stop. If they do not immediately comply, you are permitted to use deadly force.
The thief is very fortunate that he wasn’t killed. I doubt the homeowner was trying for the foot. Sadly, it will probably come back and bite him, because the would-be thief will surely sue him as the victim. Maine ought to institute a castle doctrine as many states already have.
Maine absolutely does have a “Castle Doctrine/No Retreat Law”, along with thirty five other states.
Doesn’t Maine have castle doctrine? seems the homeowner cannot retreat anymore than that of their own house. I’m not a lawyer, but from the facts that I read here I do not understand how the homeowner is in the wrong at all.
Yes. Maine is a Castle Doctrine State.
Something tells me the homeowner’s yard did not contain a Prius or an Obama 2012 election sign. There are three types of people – sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. Liberals and naive, gullible fools constitute the majority of society, sheep who typically fall prey to the wolves of society – the very criminal class liberals are sworn to protect by believing that all people are somehow inherently “good” if you give them enough government cheese. Sheepdogs are the protectors – the watchmen like law enforcement, military, veterans, and those who choose to take a leadership role in protecting their community – even if it is only their neighbors or family. Sheepdogs realize that wolves cannot be coddled or pampered into becoming sheep – that predators will always remain predators short of a life altering event. People are inherently evil and sinful, not good. Those who live by morals often do so because of their faith or a reasonable respect of law and order. Dialing 911 or locking your doors may have worked in 1950’s Mayberry. It is not the world we live in today.
Inherently evil? Most people are ready to lend a hand to others, rather than take advantage of them, when they are aware of individuals in need. With that said, and the debate regarding which policies have the effect of what I am about to state could go on for years, the way societies, cultures, systems or incentives are designed can encourage individuals to make decisions contrary to that inclination.
I certainly mean no disrespect to others but perhaps you may need to find a new group of people with whom to associate if your encounters with others have forged a strong opinion that people are naturally bad.
Keep propping up the GOP, and keep ensuring society doesn’t progress. Criminals are getting more abundant thanks to the GOP policies. Fact.
Ok John Doe, I am intriqued…how are GOP policies making Criminals more abundant? I’d have to say that most criminals are liberals because they don’t care about rules or laws and have less moral values, where as conservatives tend to be the reverse with more moral values. Now this is not only an observation but an actual FACT!
Yep like that fine upstanding Senator from out west that liked to play footsie in airport bathrooms.
Huh, I thought Bawney Fwanck was from Massachusetts…
Oh, oh… you said Senator…
Barney Frank was up front with who he was. The hpocritical Senator was a known hard right anti-gay politician.
Wait, I thought liberals wanted MORE laws and rules? Which is it?
Most criminals in Maine are Racists there by putting them into the conservative agenda, I believe.
Conservatives only tend to have “more moral values” insofar as “morality” refers to a particular theology-based ideology. This is a fundamental flaw in your argument, as religious dogma is an inferior model of “morality” in the modern sense of the word. Do keep in mind that many of the world’s most brutal and oppressive regimes both past and present are deeply rooted in socially conservative ideology.
Most conservatives, save for the hard-line libertarian crowd, favor small government only when applied to economic matters. Neo-conservatives, in particular, favor an exceedingly large and overreaching government presence with regard to social matters, and have no problem using the legal system to enforce their narrow view of morality. Frivolous laws cheapen the idea of “the rule of law” to the extent that society has less regard for the law in general, meaning more people are willing to break it.
Depends on whose morals you are referring to. Not everyone’s moral compass is in tune with Christianity. Still, I don’t see where the GOP creates more criminals. There may be a correlation between down economic times and an uprising in crime, and since the mess we are in was created by both parties it is unfair to lay blame on one side or the other.
o.k. John Doe, enjoy your environment. Who wants to take our weapons? Then who will have the weapons? Not the law abiding… The law breakers will have guns. The odds sound pretty dismal to me.
So humans are inherently evil, is that correct?
Did God not make us in his own image?
Is God then also evil?
Man made God in his Own Image.
Humans are not inherently evil, God did make us in his own image, but read the story of Adam & Eve, and do some research on original sin, humans are sinners, from the beginning, we repent for our sins and are forgiven if we are true believers, we strive for a sinless life, but the only person that walked or will walk with Earth that is sinless is Jesus Christ.
Wait, Jesus brought Buddhist teachings to the middle east. Isn’t that a sin against God? I mean he was teaching the word of another deity over God’s, that’s bad isn’t it? Usually in Christian strongholds that is punishable by death. Oh… and May the Force be with you. Heck if you guys can make stuff up and drive it down others throats why can’t I?
Yea… um… you might wanna re-read that dogmatic text of yours. That Invisible Sky Wizard of yours kinda killed millions of people, even those children he claimed were innocents. The bad guy in that book has like 2 or 3 deaths to his credit… So, yea your god is evil. Not to mention that his “teachings” have caused man to kill millions more. Christianity is a religion of political and economic expediency. Instead of fighting a costly war, a Roman Emperor merged it with his religion of sun worship.
I agree!! Usually criminals do not get the memos on the joy and peace for all, they dont get that warm fuzzy feeling when a tree is saved or when quimby protects the swamp grass and dandelions. On the other side of the coin, the naive liberals are the first ones to cry foul when the police are not sitting on their door step waiting for instructions on what to do for them, when violated in some manner.
Its always easy to blame, mock, look down upon, cry and whine. Its easy to suggest rights be taken away, demand oversight and micromanage to suit their beliefs and lifestyles. Its the real American men and women, its the real American foundation, its the reason we came to the New World, its the reason we fought the Revolutionary War …so to take charge of our own lives, our own demise with out needing oversight on how to wipe ourselves. So, shoot the “wolf” and be done with it. Now we can get on to more important things like, whats for supper?
not all of us came here to the new world, some of us are stewards of the land that the white claims to own, what about us, are we allowed to shoot all the wolves?
Are you an American Indian? if so, then yes, and if no then make sure the burglar is in the house first.
I own my land and I bet you were born here just like me. Maybe you should consider appreciating this State and Country and join it as a productive proud citizen instead of claiming some delusional superiority because your fore fathers LOST a war to others.
And if you do come onto my land and try to re-claim it as “yours”, bring something with a bigger bang than a bow. You’ll need it.
Congratulations on being a member of such an elite superior minority. It must make you feel very good. Oh, you forgot the fourth type of person. People who think they know everything and categorize other people using absurd generalizations.
Oh for Pete’s sake.
Balance is the key. Moderation. Common sense. Does anyone practice that anymore at all?
If it weren’t for liberals, we’d all be carting around our bibles and wearing our bonnets in a society that follows mindless dictates from a handful of tyrants.
I am a moderate with more liberal leanings. If that SOB walked into my house, he’d have been carried out in a pine box.
I have an Obama 2012 sign in my yard, and 68% sticker on my truck, and I would have shot the guy to death, hows that grab ya?
Keep on shootin the losers who want to ruin society. Think I’m going to take a gun class…………..if I have to……do I? Guns freak me out.
Most gun dealerships know of local NRA trained instructors offering courses in basic firearms safety. It’s not all that expensive and with some good safety training you’d be well on your way to being a confident and responsible gun owner assuming you have no restrictions from owning a firearm
A firearm isn’t the only way to protect yourself how about a motion detector sprinkler system but instead of water Napalm. I hold the match and say one more step I will change your name to cripsy!!!!!
I’m pretty sure you can find out about, and sign up for, a handgun safety class through Van Raymond’s in Brewer, or Willey’s in Ellsworth.
My elderly mother has a pistol.
Them or me, then they get shot.
If you are going to have a gun in the house for protection, I would recomend a 12 guage pump shot gun with an 18 1/2″ barrel, #7 bird shot will kill anything in any room in your house. The safety factor is that you don’t really have to be an expert marksman and you won’t have to worry about killing a loved one in the next room or the house accross the street.
The homeowner will be sued by the burglar and his homeowner’s insurance carrier will have to hire a lawyer to defend and settle the case. The wounding will be twisted into a neligent/intentional tort commited by the homeowner, i.e. their were no circumstances to justify wounding the burglar. The burglar will claim permanent physical and mental injuries and his personal injury lawyer will have a good case.
If, on the other hand, the burglar had commited any act that made the homeowner reasonably fear for his life and the homeowner shot the burglar dead it would be the end of the matter–for example “He came at me with his hands outstretched saying he was going to kill me so I shot him…”. He’s dead, you aren’t and you’ve got a reasonable explanation for what happened. Got it, folks?
Any man attempting to get into my home, by means of breaking in. Pushing on windows, kicking at my door, ect. I think I would be able to tell if he was a new neighbor dropping me off a cake or trying to enter my home without permission. I would shoot him, there is no way I would let him, so he could wrestle the gun out of my hand and kill me. I’m a pretty old lady and I have never had anyone come to my house and try to enter thru windows or by kicking my door down.
Yep!
This guy is going to think twice next time before he steps foot in another house he is not invited to.
If I owned a bumper sticker I would put it on my house door; It would state I would rather take my chances with 12 then carried by 6. If someone breaks into my home, they better plan on being carried by 6. I won’t be a victim. No one will steal children out of my home, rape or kill me or my family. I will shoot first and ask questions later.
He’s lucky he didn’t get into my daughters apartment. My two daughters at only 13 years old were able to send a pedefile to the hospital. He tried to break into the pop up camper they were locked in. When they refused to open the door for him, he pulled the velcro back and placed his hand in around. They grabbed a flashlight and whacked his hand. Then they quickly attacked him with Bear mace from L.L. Bean. They each had their own full size can. His screams were heard far enough away to wake a neighbor who called police and a local town constable. When constable arrived he was begging the two girls to stop attacking him. They are always ready with bear spray. The can says to be used on animals only, no humans. When it comes to a predator, it works on humans! That night their dad had only gone less then a mile to get cell coverage to make sure that I made it to work ok. While we spent 30 mins chatting on the phone, the girls were beating a petefile who was begging for mercy.
Good for them that they ended up being ok, and for beating the crap out of that guy. Double awesome.
They were lucky, we had just purchased the mace, because of a different man that was lurking around my girls. The girls had bad vibes, so my husband picked it up on his way home. It works, he was in poor condition when the ambulance arrived. Breathing very difficult. My husband never left them alone, and usually people were around the camp. He got back just as the constable was arriving. He held him until ambulance and police showed. I don’t think he was going anywhere, breathing was an issue.
LOL it is to bad there wasn’t a camera set up, that would be priceless!!!
Sure gave the girls self esteem. Since then they have taken several self defense courses and Rape Crisis gives a wonderful course. I believe it was called SARS. I’m sure someone will set me straight if I have those initials wrong. They took that one after the incident as well. The brains behind it was maybe 80lb if she was lucky. Tiny for her age and still is as an adult. He would’ve been more of a challenge but he was drugged and drunk. I don’t think he planned on a fire estinguisher being used on him either. Those girls were petrefied.
This is why when they say a man has to enter your home with a gun. I always say his hands are weapons. I have tons of things in my home he can use on me for a weapon. I believe I must defend myself before he gets to me. I’m glad we had just taught the girls due to a different man,how to defend themselves. They used that plus.
Hey, don’t forget….when seconds count the police are only minutes away.
What a blood thirsty bunch of comments on this article. Just like back in the Old Wild West. I’m sure this will raise the ire of all the gun owners, but that’s the way I see it.
If the home owner had a crowbar he might have killed the guy……Just saying.
Typing for the sake of typing.Good job.
So when is this “alledged” burglar going to be identified to the public?
http://www.wabi.tv/news/26589/man-hospitalized-after-being-shot-in-foot-by-homeowner-who-caught-him-breaking-in
When I was in high school, this same sort of thing happened in a town near mine. Different outcome. The burglar heard the homeowner and killed him when the he tried to enter his home. The homeowner was unarmed but it didn’t matter. He was murdered anyway. I believe the burglar was out of prison in 10-15 years. Not completely sure. His mistake was NOT being armed before entering since his weapons were in the house.
I think you may be talking about a tragic incident that occurred in Bradley in the 90s. Similar situation with a completely different outcome.
The homeowner needs to have shot in self-defense otherwise he could face some legal problems. If, for example, he shot the burgler as he was running away that could be a problem.
Wrong. If charged (and he won’t be – I guarantee it), no jury in Maine would find the homeowner guilty.
Glad the homeowners did the right thing and that they’re going to be physically okay. They are my heroes! One down….many more to go.
Sounds like one mean dude. I’m glad he was caught. Hopefully he will stay in jail.
To the Homeowners:
What you were forced to deal with was a very unfortunate situation. Most of us thankfully will never have to be in that spot. You are probably still on straight adrenaline right now and you probably have a lot of support but I hope once this all calms down (which will be shortly) you find the strength to move on mentally knowing you did the right thing.
Self protection is a voluntary commitment. Many can’t, or choose not to, commit themselves to self protection due to the fact that they think it wont happen to them or they dont want it to happen to them. Nobody, sane that is, wants it to happen to them. Our police offiers in Maine are some of the finest around but they can’t be in all places at one time. Things happen fast, they require fast action, and they end in fast outcome. The outcome here appears to be pretty good all things considered. I applaud you for your courage.
I do hope they put the coward away for a long time. I also hope he learned that he tried to rob the wrong house. If you have the means I strongly suggest a decent home security system. Like most technology, they have come down in price a lot. You can get a very good system for about a thousand dollars that would do very well.
I have a home system and 9m bedside for home protection. I hope neither ever go off. If they do I know I have the tools in place to secure the precious valuables I have in my home. All my valuables have a heart beat and I prefer to keep it that way.
Maine is a Castle Doctrine State. Definition of Castle Doctrine is an American legal doctrine arising from English common law that designates one’s place of residence (or, in some states, any place legally occupied, such as one’s car or place of work) as a place in which one enjoys protection from illegal trespassing and violent attack. It then goes on to give a person the legal right to use deadly force to defend their place, and any other innocent persons legally inside it, from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack. In a legal context, therefore, use of deadly force which actually results in death may be defended as justifiable homicide under the Castle Doctrine.
The term “Castle Doctrine” appears no where in Maine statutory or case law. At best its an over generalized concept for the justified use of deadly and non-deadly force in defense of personal safety, not property.
If you want to understand Maine law, I suggest you consult Title 17-A sec. 104; 105; and 108 instead of Wikipedia. Any one taking your advice seriously may well face Murder charges.
One day I locked myself out and as I tried to get in through a window my “Home Protection Service”
was in the air, teeth bared and ready to go. So you come in to my home, and I will be picking up whatever my baby girl don’t eat. I really hate thieves. Send this POS back to Florida with the rest of the trash that resides there.
Castle doctrine. Look it up people. Respect to the person protecting his family. If there’s someone intruding your home. Armed or not they probably don’t have great intentions. So when the good guy is armed it’s now excessive force to some of you commenters? Please…. Good job defending you and your family.
It was a good thing that the guy ran into a “kinder, gentler” gun owner.
If his 9mm is anything like mine he could have been aiming for the chest and hit him in the foot!
I will say as a father of young kids and things that are happening around this country if you don’t belong in my house you will be shot. Police can’t even handle people on the drugs that are available today. Shoot first ask questions later.
Now he has a nice warm place to stay…. on the taxpayers tab.
It won’t really solve any problems…but a bus ticket back to Florida would be ok with me. Sorry, you can’t fix stupid…and no amount of rehab or job training in prison ever turns around a career criminal (I think aggravated criminal trespass, criminal mischief, terrorizing and assault, harassment by telephone, marijuana possession, theft, operarting without a license, violating protective orders and violating conditions of his release all in the past 6 years counts as career), at this point. So ya either shoot him in the head…or you drop kick him to whence he came…..
Photo says it all about this guy…Look at the number of people still caring for him (and spending taxpayer dollars to do so) as the result of his idiotic actions…
Go Mr. Roderick, if more people would arm themselves and take action against these idiots who feel they do not need to work for a living maybe they would get the message. I am glad you got him and that you and your family are safe.
Living in rural Maine, these situations are always a concern. I’ve lived within a stone’s throw of Peter for many, many years. On Thursday, 3 Oct. 1996, within1 mile of Peter’s home, a gentleman (just over the Bradley line) was shot & killed in the very same scenario that didn’t turn out as well – he interrupted a burglary at his home and lost his life as a result. My office got broken into in October, and on the same day 3 houses in Bradley were burglarized in broad daylight. The sooner that these people realize that we’re not going to stand for it and will take whatever measures necessary to protect our property and lives, the better off we’ll be.
There’s a lesson to be learned here: a bit more target practice by Mr. Roderick would have reduced the recidivism (and lawsuit) potential considerably.
He be shot to da foot….dat good, but den he run, but den da poleeece be catchin’ him. Now he be in da slamma wit da odda gangstas.
