BANGOR, Maine — A Millinocket woman who tried to leave Walmart without paying for around $50 in hair care products and DVDs was found with diverted prescription pills and arrested, police say.
“After they patted her down, they found some prescription drugs,” Bangor Lt. Steve Hunt said Saturday.
Tammy Mclain, 39, was charged with theft and two counts of possession of scheduled drugs, with one count filed as a felony.
“She had several medications on her,” Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday, “one that is a felony to possess.”
Mclain was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

This is the Bangor Police equivalent of ESPN’s “C’mon man”
We’re last in the country for business environment, but at the top of the list for the diversion of prescription drugs. I often disagree with our Governor, but not on these two important topics.
Agreed…
Maybe if more people had to actually work for a living instead of getting free housing and healthcare for most of their life they would have less time to hang around Wal-Mart and steal.
Its strange she has no shame. Smug look on her face. Must be the pills.
Our prescription prices go up, and the cost of our stuff at the store because of mornons like this. She stole stupid stuff.
Does she think the hair products are going to help her curb appeal?
And to think people are opposed to cutting mainecare… apparently those that are opposed don’t read the paper, OR they just want to make sure their voting blocks stay happy.
I don’t think they should have released her from jail. I believe if you get caught with felony drugs then you should be locked up until your court date.
If you think that than you pay for her stay!
Ah Bangor…the worlds largest rite aid
haven’t been out much, hey?
Her booking photo looks like she is at the DMV getting a renewal, not going to jail. She must be proud. Smile for the camera. Your going to be in the paper.
that was a quick release. no mention of bail either. life is good here in Maine.
awww an she smiled pretty for the camera as well.
She thought she was on Candid Camera!
I know what “diversion” means, but is that what the paper or the courts are calling illegal possession? I feel “diversion” is too semantically “nice” for a federal crime.
Get off the drugs and then you can work to buy this stuff. Don’t know what she’s so happy about.
Love the oxys and salts…Makes em look so attractive…NOT
Slap Slap….and right on the wrist too. Typical Maine reaction to criminals. SMILE SMILE cuz U are gonna get free help for your sins
I never, ever go to wal-mart.. I was totally is shock to hear there was something worth Stealing There…
Man.. I wish my DMV license picture picture looked that good, I say the officer at BPD that took that mug shot should open up a photography studio in one of the many vacant stores in the down town area!.
