WASHBURN and CARIBOU – Albert Spinney, 75, passed away Jan. 7, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born June 5, 1936, in Winn, to the late George and Leona (Fitzgerald) Spinney.
Albert graduated from Washburn High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army as a specialist five from 1958-1961, and the reserves from 1961-1964. Albert was a painting contractor for 45 years. He belonged to Knights of Columbus and Washburn Rotary Club, where he served two terms as president. He married his wife of 48 years, Madeline (Boutote) Spinney, in 1963.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one son, Grant and his wife, Ashley Spinney, of Caribou; three daughters, Debi and her husband, Jim Leighton, of Limestone, Connie and her husband, Peter Marchi, of South Windsor, Conn., and Michelle and her partner, Christina Homer, of Portland; nine grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters and many in-laws. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Albert Spinney Jr.; two brothers and four sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 31 Thomas Ave., Caribou, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrant. Friends may call noon until time of Mass at the church. A private committal service will take place in the spring at Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn.
