WILLIMANTIC – Kathryn Beulah Green, 94, died Jan. 10, 2012, at her home in Willimantic. She was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Willimantic, daughter of Bert and Evelina (McKinney) Knowles.

She graduated from Guilford High School, class of 1934, and attended college in Farmington and the University of Maine, and began teaching in the early 1940’s. She taught in Willimantic, Monson and at Willimantic Christian School, retiring in 1997. She touched the lives of many students over the course of her 50-year teaching career. Kathryn worked cleaning camps at Sebec Lake for many years. She was also active in town affairs, serving as republican ballot clerk for 26 years, and was an active member of Willimantic Community Church.

She was proud of being presented the Boston Post Cane by Ansel and Evelyn Preble, Sept. 2, 2011. Her hobbies included needlework of every kind, reading and enjoying her family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Adin A. Green. She is survived by a daughter, Madeline Douglass and friend, Tim, of Willimantic; two granddaughters and their husbands, Nancy and Rick Kelley of Monson, and Kathy and Darrell Erickson of Willimantic, where she made her home; two grandsons, Jim Douglass of Willimantic and John Douglass and friend, Kim, of Parkman; 15 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; three very special friends, Marilyn Buchanan, Susie Cowles and Binnie Chase. A special thank you to Marcia Walden for all her help and kindness.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Willimantic Community Church with Pastor Lloyd Rozelle officiating.
