FORT FAIRFIELD – Gerald J. St. Peter, 86, husband of the late Gertrude (Raymond) St. Peter, passed away Monday evening, Jan. 9, 2012, at a Presque Isle nursing facility. He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Guerette, the son of Ligorie and Selma (Rossignol) St. Peter.

Gerald attended school in Cross Lake and had resided in Fort Fairfield since 1946. He was married to Gertrude Raymond on May 8, 1946 and had been employed in the potato farming industry for Harold H. Hopkinson and later Shaw Farms, Fort Fairfield for many years.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude, June 25, 2009; one brother, Clarence St. Peter; three sisters, Jeannette Graham, Priscilla Saucier and Bernice Strid. He is survived by two sons, Paul St. Peter of Portland, Gerald St. Pierre and his wife, Nancy, of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Elizabeth Houser and her husband, Norman, of Boswell, Okla.; three brothers, Hermon St. Peter and his wife, Evelyn, of Florida, Philip St. Peter and his companion, Donna, of Fort Fairfield, Bernard St. Peter of Lewiston; four sisters, Doris Martin of Limestone, Madeline Guerrette of Caribou, Greta Carson of Crawford, Deloris Faye of Bangor; six grandchildren, Susan and James Michaud, Jon St. Pierre, John, Christopher and Matthew Rines; nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mrs. Clarence (Ann) St. Peter of Fort Fairfield.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Aaron Damboise. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Spring interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. St. Peter to the Presque Isle Nursing Home, 162 Academy St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
