PALMYRA and HARTLAND – Kelly L. Merrill, 66, passed away Jan. 12, 2012, surrounded by her children at her residence. She was born Aug. 28, 1945, in Hartland, a daughter of James and Nellie (Cool) York.
She graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, and worked at Newport Post Office for 22 years, starting as a mail carrier and retiring as a window clerk. She belonged to Newport Women’s Club, was past treasurer of Sebasticook Valley Snowmobile Club, and past vice president of the Wednesday Night Bowling League. Her favorite pastimes were watching NASCAR, the Red Sox, bowling and being with her two beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Scott and wife, Nicole Schissler, of Newport; one daughter, Shelly and husband, Dennis Campbell, of Stetson; grandchildren, Sarah Schissler of Newport and Brady Campbell of Stetson; one sister, Yvonne and husband, John Kopins, of Newtown, Conn.; two brothers, James York of Pittsfield and Ronald York of Cambridge, Mass.; one niece, Kelly Goodridge Taylor of Newtown, Conn.; and four nephews, Matthew York of Massachusetts, Marc York of Pittsfield, Steven Goodridge of Newtown, Conn., and Lance Goodridge of New York.
It was Kelly’s request that there be no services at this time. A spring graveside committal service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
