PROSPECT HARBOR and LAFAYETTE, N.J. – Carl E. Krupacs, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, in Lafayette, N.J. Born Feb. 13, 1934, in Paterson, N.J., Mr. Krupacs was raised in Garfield, N.J., where he later married Marjorie Kmetz, Aug. 2, 1958.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked at Picatinny Arsenal as a nuclear weapons design and test engineer for the U.S. government.
Son of the late Rudolph F. and Sylvia K. (Santin) Krupacs, Mr. Krupacs was also predeceased by his brother, Rudolph M. Krupacs; his first wife, Rosemary; as well as his brother-in-law, George E. Kmetz. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie (Kmetz); four daughters, Cheryl Spencer and husband, Edward, of West Old Town, Lynne Hemmings and husband, Frank, of Frankford Township, N.J., Allyson Agne and husband, Douglas, of Lafayette, N.J., and Robyn Krupacs of Vernon, N.J.; five grandchildren, Justin Spencer and wife, Abby, of Lyons, Colo., Sarah Spencer of Orono, Kyle Sander, Douglas Agne and Amanda Agne, all of New Jersey; great-granddaughter, Wilma Jane Spencer of Colorado, with another great-grandchild due in May. He is also survived by his sister, Marcia Maltese and husband, Jasper, of Silver Spring, Md.; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Krupacs of Barrington, N.J.; his sister-in-law, Noel Boling of The Colony, Texas; and six nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, N.J., where visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be private.
