EAST MACHIAS, Maine — Maine Drug Enforcement agents from the Down East District Task Force arrested an East Machias man on Thursday afternoon for selling prescription painkillers. On two consecutive days in late December, MDEA agents purchased OxyContin from Arthur Worster, 28, at his residence on Chase Mills Road. The 80 milligram OxyContin tablets were manufactured in Canada and smuggled into Maine before the sale. Agents followed Worster into the parking lot of an East Machias business on Jan. 11, and took him into custody without incident.
Worster is charged with aggravated trafficking in OxyContin, a Class A felony offense. Agents took Worster to the Washington County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000 cash. His initial appearance in Washington County Superior Court is scheduled for May 21,and if convicted, Worster faces no less than four years in prison.
This is not the first time Worster and MDEA agents have met. In November 2005, agents arrested Worster in Marshfield for selling hydrocodone — another powerful painkiller marketed as Vicodin. Worster was convicted of the offense in April 2007 and sentenced to three years in jail with all but 60 days suspended. Because of this conviction, Worster’s current trafficking charge is aggravated.
MDEA was assisted in this investigation by the Maine State Police.

Notice no mention of the sherrif office involvment. Probably why something was done because they did not have involvement. Then again they are nothing but bullies with badges. Great job MDEA and State Police
Some of the officers who work for MDEA are on loan from the sheriff’s dept!
Wrong…Sheriff dept does not have anyone with MDEA
At this point, I don’t think it matters. Washington County MDEA is corrupt anyway and they are going to have to start proving they’re not, by doing ALOT of drug busts! Not one or two, and arresting someone for selling a pill or two to an undercover agent. They need to start going after these dealers that have been doing it a LONG time…..and they know who the dealers are as well as community members do! They don’t need any more tips as I’m sure they have had HUNDREDS of tips……..they just need to start ACTING on them, NOW.
If you know and dont report it…you are part of the problem then..
I HAVE reported and reported and reported, til I’m blue in the face! And NOTHING has been done! I am sure there are others who have reported, too……..and we are the ones who say, nothing ever gets done, cuz it doesn’t! The people reporting are NOT part of the problem. The dealers and users ARE the problem and the cops/MDEA, judical system and government are enabling them to remain “the problem”!
Sounds familiar “talking blue in the face” and gets old. I have no use for the Sheriffs Office and rely completly on the State Police. If it is not an emergency, I wait until I call the State Police. Let them stickto serving civil and being a turn key.
” if convicted, Worster faces no less than four years in prison.” This is a joke. This scumbag ruins peoples lives by selling drugs and is looking at a hand slap. Put him away for forty years… With NO TV, No CELLPHONES and give him hard labor!!
Plus take away his Maine Care.
where in this story did you see it say this man has mainecare?? really??? read the story. it says right in it that these pills were BROUGHT OVER from canada, not prescribed in maine and bought with mainecare… not all drug dealers and users abuse mainecare. not all drugs that are sold are paid for with insurance. . . so again where did you read he has or these drugs were paid for with mainecare>???
Me thinks he was being facetiious!
What he did was illegal, and he’s going to face consequences for it, but no one’s forcing the people who are buying drugs from him to take them.
While your idea of forty years in prison may deter some from drug dealing it would not deter everyone and would cost the taxpayers of the State of Maine 1 million dollars for every forty year sentence handed out. This number reflects todays average yearly cost of $25,000 for each year of incarceration and is sure to rise in future years.
If only this guy had stayed on the straight and narrow and gone to college…..
He could’ve become a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep.
Unregistered Pharmacist
He already is a rep…..just not a legal one. :P
1 more down…..6,000 to go
A poster boy for “Three Strikes and you’re Out!!!
poster child for 3 strike rule??? umm last time i went to school 2 came after one, not 3. he’s had ONE prior arrest, this makes 2. 3 strike rule requires exactly that THREE strikes…think before you type. =)
Research “Three Strikes Law” and you’ll understand what I was implying! However since you choose to ridicule I’ll explain. The Three Strike law is imposed in some states for people who don’t seem to get the picture that their crimes will cost them certain penalties (ie; repeat offenders). Since Mr. Worster has as you so eloquenty stated, two convictions, he would eligible for a life sentence if he is again (making it three) convicted for a felony offense. There I thought before I typed, will you do likewise?
actually as i so eloquently stated he has ONE prior CONVICTION. this one being his second CHARGE. there fore is NOT a candidate for a three strike rule. he was charged in 05, and found guilty in 07(all one charge, not 2) glad you thought before you typed. now try reading the whole story.
Don’t fight children. Before I moved away from a lake side community here in Maine, my next door neighbor was convicted of 37 counts of interstate transport of dangerous drugs. He was sentenced to 37 months of prison time. He was out in less than 18months. No it wasn’t in Washington County.
I don’t think Maine has a “3 strikes” law.
ne thing people dont take into consideration is that Yes he may have been a drug dealer, it was what he did not who he was! This man is one if the kindest thoughtful people you will ever meet! You people have no idea that stuggle this man went through everyday! This man went out of his way to help so many people, me included! There were many days that I would have gone with out alot of things and NO NOT DRUGS, if it wasnt for him! He is the best friend a person could ask for. But what he did is ILLEGAL!! What if he sold some drugs to a loved one of yours and they died, would you still be saying the same thing??
I understand what he did was illegal…but these people postin about him being such a scum bag….they dont know him or anything about him. If for some reason he did sale drugs to someone I love it would not be his fault, it would be theirs for taking the drug! There is a fine line here. But the bottom line is Arthur is a person, a person with feelings and many many people that are not addicts that care about him. I have known this man for many years as a friend not a dealer and I can honestly say he is the best friend I have ever had!
Place the blame where blame belongs!! You are REALLY going to blame the druggie for BUYING from the DEALER?? He obviously didn’t learn his lesson the first time, did he? If he is such a “good person” why is he still selling drugs? How can you say it would not be his fault to selling illegal drugs to someone?? HUH?????? *shakes head* (some people just don’t GET IT)
Very simply put…supply and demand .Big Pharma realized that the USA is the biggest importer of mind-altering drugs aka pot coke horse,…big money is always ahead of the curve.
