TOPSFIELD – Barbara (Noyes) Rhoades, beloved daughter of Verne and Gladys (Bean) Noyes, and was born July 30, 1927, passed away Jan. 16, 2012.

Barbara was a loving and generous woman who’s home was open to all. She had a vibrant and full life that touched all who knew her, and the world is a darker place with her loss.

She was predeceased by her mother, father; husband of 60 years, John Rhoades; sons, Daniel and Earnest; daughter, Gail and son-in-law, August Jason; and sisters, Laverna Griffin and Norma Welch. Barbara leaves behind a large family of children, including Grace and Rick Hraba, Daniel and Joyce Rhoades, Mary Rhoades, Marion and Vaughn Monk and Edgar and Cindy Rhoades; sister-in-law, Nina Rhoades; brothers, Norris Noyes and Garry and Betty Noyes; and sisters, Earlene Sherman, Ina Noyes and Dixie and Ken Curtis. Barbara also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Allen and Beth Hraba, John and Shelly Hraba, Karen and Paul Binkley, Tina-Marie and Steven, Larry and Sherrie, Robert, Mark, Michelle, Jennifer, Melissa, Scott, Jessica and Andrew, Acacia, Tarah, Adam, Alec, Joel, Whitley, Luke, Austin, Zackary, Alayna, Asa and Elaina. A large family of nieces, nephews and cousins are also mourning along with many local children of all ages who knew and loved Grammie Rhoades.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Rhoades Family Cemetery, Topsfield. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Online condolences may be offered at
