MADAWASKA and ST. DAVID – Jeanne D’Arc Lavertu, 68, passed away Jan. 21, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born June 1, 1943, the daughter of Levite and Regina Cyr.
Jeanne was a communicant of St. David Church, and a member of Ladies of St. Anne and Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Lavertu and his wife, Sandra, of Frenchville and Scott Lavertu and his wife, Cara, of Fort Carson, Colo.; two very special granddaughters, Emily and Sarah Lavertu of Frenchville; one brother, Conrad Cyr and his wife, Jeanne, of Madawaska; several nieces and nephews. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Wilmer Lavertu, in 2002; and four brothers, Fernand, Gerald, Robert and Ralph.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at St. David Church. Family and friends may call 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the spring at the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit
