GLENBURN – Daniel Neil McLeod died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born March 12, 1931, in Bangor, a son of John Thomas and Madeline Bridge McLeod.

Daniel was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War, receiving six bronze service stars, discharging Oct. 21, 1952. He re-enlisted in August 1953 in the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Korea and Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart. He discharged as a staff sergeant in August 1968.

Daniel was predeceased by his son, Daniel Neil McLeod; and brother, Edwin McLeod. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Gloria McLeod of Glenburn; sister, Elizabeth Hutchings of Glenburn; two brothers, John McLeod of Bangor and George McLeod of Eddington; several nieces, nephews and cousins

A committal service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
