NEWPORT – Georgia (Cookson) Knowlton, 95, died Jan. 22, 2012, at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Dexter, a daughter of George and Eva (Clukey) Cookson.
She moved to Pittsfield with her family at a young age. Georgia was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church and retired from C. M. Almy, both in Pittsfield.
Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Burns Knowlton Sr.; son, Burns Jr., who was killed in Vietnam; five brothers, Phillip, Norman, Galen, Wilbur and Alfred Cookson; and two sisters, Beulah and Beatrice. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Pomeroy of Newport.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit Ave., Pittsfield, with Father Paul Murray officiating.
