NORTHEAST HARBOR – Helen James, 90, died Jan. 22, 2012, in Bar Harbor. She was born July 9, 1921, in Lyman, daughter of Milton and Ida Douglas. She was one of six children, of which only her brother, Hartley, survives her.
She is also survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Catherine, of Bar Harbor; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Thomas, Steve, Cindy, Robert, Sandra, David, Lynn, Seth and Joshua; 13 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted, in 2005; daughter, Suzanne, in 1993; and grandson, James, in 1982.
At her request, there will be no services. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Desert Public Nursing Association, P.O. Box 397, Northeast Harbor, ME 04662.
