ALFRED, Maine — The trial of a Limington man accused of the drug-fueled killing of his wife has started.
A York County Superior Court jury on Tuesday is scheduled to begin hearing testimony in the murder trial of 41-year Patrick Dapolito.
Prosecutors say Dapolito shot his wife, Kelly Winslow, in March 2010 as they lay on the bathroom floor of their home following a night of taking cocaine and prescription painkillers.
Authorities say the couple was in an abusive relationship and Dapolito tried to cover up the killing by burying his wife’s body behind his father’s home.
Dapolito’s lawyer tells The Portland Press Herald the couple was asleep when the gun accidentally went off, killing Winslow. He says Dapolito panicked and is likely to take the stand in his own defense.

“The couple was asleep and the gun accidentally went off…”
riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight……and that’s why the next logical step was to bury her in dad’s backyard…
Bizarre isn’t it.
I thought cocaine made you hyper?
Not when you chase it with opiates…
Experience? Just asking.
Oh good, another case where “it just went off”.
Oh, and he was under the influence… that will get him off….

How does a gun go off accidentally if you are asleep? I don’t get it.
I believe him(sarcasm)! Just think of all the people who don’t!
