BREWER, Maine — A handful of residents learned they were part of a solved rash of motor vehicle burglaries when they arrived home from work Wednesday night, Brewer Police Chief Perry Antone said Thursday morning.
Five additional automobile burglaries in the north end of Brewer were reported after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and have been tied to the arrest of two Old Town men earlier in the day for about 20 motor vehicle burglaries.
“Those were all related to the incidents before,” Antone said.
Police followed the burglars’ fresh tracks in the snow, which went from driveway to driveway, to catch the duo, Detective Sgt. Jay Munson has said. The trail led police to a residence on North Main Street, where they found Josh Albert, 25, and Andrew Grindle, 20, with the stolen items.
Both face felony burglary to a motor vehicle and burglary charges. They face up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 fines if convicted of the burglary charge, which is the more serious of the two charges. The burglary charge was lodged because they entered one homeowner’s garage, Munson said.
With the five additional thefts reported late Wednesday, Albert and Grindle now face more than 25 counts of automobile burglary, Antone said.

If your car is unlocked- that may mean that your garage door opener is available to open the biggest door in your home. These guys were of the stealth variety, not every crook is shy about entering your home. Turn off the switch inside.
Good point!
Did they ever catch the people that tore through 40 cars like this in Old Town? If not…. I’d suggest asking these two if they’ve got any idea.
Awesome job as usual Brewer Police!
There is a good chance that these crimes occured because of the Drug War. If we end the war we could end the crime it breeds. The narcotics sought are produced and sold by pharmaceutical companies in this country. They actually receive the money from the stolen property. The drug companies actually receive the benefit of the stolen goods. They are complicit and should be held responsible. This insanity has gone on for too long. “Using the same mindset that created the problem will not solve the problem”. War is not the answer. Think of something else.
You have GOT to be kidding me!! Please tell me this was meant to be sarcasm…
That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. How about these fools broke the law and need to be held accountable and not have excuses made for their crimes. We need personal accountability back in our society!
It had nothing to do with the drug companies and everything to do with the creeps themselves. Stealing went on long before the drug companies were around and will continue after they are gone.
Smith and Wesson shouldn’t be held accountable for those morons that buy a gun and kill a person, should they? You are over-gernalizing the issue Sergeantcuinn. Yes, we do have a problem with people abusing prescription drugs, but prescription drugs have a legitimate use, as do guns. If this had anything to do with drugs, the BDN did not report it. Where in heck did you get an idea for a rant like this?
Unbelievable. They make it hard for people not to believe, once a criminal, always a criminal
I’m glad they were caught. Good job Brewer PD. Someone got into my car a few months ago in Brewer. but all I had in there was a litter bag with some wrappers in it and some sand from the beach. I’ve learned that I need to lock my car.
