AUGUSTA, Maine — The federal government says nearly 12,000 Maine residents who receive Medicare saved $6.3 million on their prescription drugs in 2011 due to changes in the health care overhaul law.
The Department of Health and Human Services also says savings for people with Medicare will increase over time to nearly $4,200 by 2021 because of the Affordable Care Act.
The law provides a 50 percent discount on brand-name prescription drugs, and this year a 14 percent discount on generics. Last year, it provided a 7 percent discount on covered generic medications for people who hit the prescription drug coverage gap known as the doughnut hole.

The feds are doing their job. LePage is going the other way. Increasing cost so his buddies can make more money at the expense of his People before politics. What a phony.
All funded by those who actually pay taxes ,and I love the timing of this release.
Rocky Timing is EVERYTHING! LOL
Timing? As in, one day you, too, will be elderly and qualify for Medicare? Then it will by MY taxes (or my kids’ taxes) paying for YOUR care. And I won’t actually mind.

How about the Brewer/Burbar deal?
….
Excellent! Just another republican ruse exposed. You can always tell the plan put forth will really work when they clench their fists, stomp their feet, and turn all red in the face swearing up and down if we do something they don’t like it will be the end of the world as we know it. Are they always this wrong or do they just lie a lot?
Unfortunately, what the feds have not said is that the amount those on Medicare will be paying will increase significantly in the next two years. The rate hike is small for the first two increases, then increases by over 50% in 2014. Looks like its screw the seniors time by the feds as well, something Barack, Nancy & Harry tried to hide. The way things are going against seniors, not just federally, but in nearly every state, it looks like were heading for a society based on the film “Logan’s Run.”
Thank you Obama. Thank you Democratic party. Hey Liberman, former democrat who screwed up the original bill, no thanks for you. Hey GOP, well, er, politeness doesn’t permit me to say what I’m thinking but suffice to say it isn’t complimentary.
