GILBERT, Ariz. – LeRoy S. Carter passed Jan. 31, 2012. He was born July 2, 1936, in Calais, the son of Gerald and Mae Carter.

He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Paula Carter; daughter, Jenny and son-in-law, Allen Guptill, of Baileyville; son, Troy Carter of Chandler, Ariz.; grandson, Joshua Guptill of Tennessee; granddaughter, Alicia Guptill and great-granddaughter, Karleigh Smith, of Levant; sisters, Mary Gordon of Calais and Joan Corey of Marboro, Mass.; sister-in-law, Nancy Carter; several nieces and nephews.

He retired from Georgia Pacific Pulp and Paper Co. with 34 years of service. Roy was honorably discharged after serving his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years.

For those who wish to attend, a remembrance service will be held for friends 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Faith Family Fellowship Church, 20913 East Ocotillo Road, Queen Creek, Ariz., conducted by Pastor Ed Stutz. At a later date there will be a graveside service in Crawford for family and friends.
