PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Michael Alan Perkins, 65, passed away Jan. 21, 2012, from complications of diabetes at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. He was born April 5, 1946, in Bangor, son of the late Daniel C. Perkins and Martha L. (Moore) Perkins of Exeter, N.H.

Mike grew up in Brewer, attending and graduating from Brewer High School, and attended college in Bangor. During his school years he was active in sports on the high school basketball and track team, as well as his church league. Mike also was an active member of what was known as the Monday Night Youth Group at the Congregational church in South Brewer. Mike was a Boy Scout and proudly obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. During his adult years, Mike played on various organized softball teams in the Bangor area and also umpired for Bangor softball leagues. Mike was a member of the Lodge of Elks and Fraternal Order of Eagles since 1974. He loved to travel and ride his motorcycle. He also enjoyed camping and all outdoor recreation, and was an avid follower of all sports. Mike worked for 20 years for Bangor Public Works and was president of the local union. In 1988 he moved to Plymouth, N.H., and worked at Plymouth Water and Sewer District as a certified waste water operator. During this time he met and fell in love with Julie Jaquith, who he was very devoted to, and spent his retirement years happily sharing his life with her.

Michael is survived by his wife and partner, Julie Jaquith of Plymouth, N.H.; son, Michael Perkins of Beaufort, S.C.; stepdaughter, Shannon Daley of Calais; grandchildren, Regan, Gage and Jordan; mother, Martha Perkins of Exeter, N.H.; sister, Erlene Appleby of Bucksport; aunt, Vivian Cummings of Lowell, Mass.; uncle, Virgil Perkins of Hope; first cousins, Althea Ricker of Newburgh, Vera Clark of Corinth, Bryan Puckett of West Gardiner, Charles Cummings of Lowell, Mass., Marilyn Belanger of Moore, S.C., Carolyn Valcourt of Howland, Susan McLaughlin, Everett McLaughlin and Pam McLaughlin, all of Howland, Denise Jones and Richard Moore of Lincoln, Diane Sales of Bradley, David Moore of Biddeford and Benny Moore of Asheville, N.C.; many nephews, nieces and distant cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours or funeral service.

Interment and graveside service will be held in the spring at Riverview Cemetery, North Bucksport.
