HARBORSIDE – Roscoe M. Rankin Jr. passed peacefully Jan. 31, 2012, with his loving wife by his side at home, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. He was born Sept. 1, 1930, to Roscoe M. Rankin Sr. and Inez Ladd Rankin.
Ross was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1952 and honorably discharged in 1960.
Ross worked for Frank Fowler and Sons for many years, as well as other local contractors.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Lucielle Roy Rankin; son, Edward and Ilona; daughter, Deborah and Butch; grandchildren, David and Arielle, Maggie and Joe, Joe and Chrystle, Ben, Austin and Eugenia; great-granddaughter, Angsumalin; three great-stepgrandchildren, Iesha, Autumn and Joey; sister, Laura; brother, Ken and Becky; sisters-in-law, Brenda and Alice; many nieces, nephews and cousins; numerous friends, including special friends and caregivers, Tom Cooper and his son, Thomas. He will be missed by his three cats; and his two special dogs, Tippy and Buster. Ross was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Bob and Lysle; and sister, Gertrude.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at West Brooksville Congregational Church with the Rev. Alan Myers officiating. A gathering will be afterward at the church. Burial will be in the spring.
