BUCKSPORT – Brenda C. Tinker, 62, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at her son’s home with her loving family by her side.

She was born March 16, 1949, in Castine, daughter of Oscar A. and Emily J. (Phinney) Smith.

Brenda had a great love for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a loving, caring and very generous lady. She enjoyed visiting her daughter and family in West Virginia. Brenda also enjoyed trips to Campobello Island, Canada, to be by the ocean and spend time with family there. She also found great comfort in her beloved dog, Lucy.

Brenda is survived and will be missed by one daughter, Gina Carsley and her husband, Shawn, of Milton, W.Va.; one son, Stacy Stack and his wife, Karen, of Brewer; her grandchildren, Jesse Ashmore, Dylan Ashmore, Brandon Woods and Sawyer Hanscome; her former husband, Francis Stack of Bucksport; three sisters, Maxine Atwood and husband, Ernest, of Hampden, Barbara Calvi of Orrington and Emily Benson of Holden; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend special thanks to Brenda’s niece, Sharon Dunbar, for her special care of Brenda during the last weeks of her life. In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with the Rev. Brenda Leclerc officiating. Contributions in Brenda’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04332-0346.
