BANGOR, Maine — U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe will be the keynote speaker at the Bangor Republican Committee’s Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, according to Jonathan Pottle, the committee’s newly elected chairman.
Pottle said the committee appreciates Snowe’s support of its mission to recruit, nurture and elect Republican candidates.
“Our actions matter now more than ever,” he said. “It is essential that solid Republican candidates be elected to both the State House and Congress so that the Republican philosophy of governing is well-represented.”
“We are convinced that the election of 2010 was an important first step toward making Maine state government more accountable to Maine people,” said Larry Willey, chairman of the Lincoln Day Dinner Committee. “We must now build on this first step by electing quality Republican candidates in 2012 to keep Maine moving in the right direction.”
The dinner will be held at Wellman Commons, 294 Union St. in Bangor.
Seating is limited to 200 people, and the cost is $50 per person. The social hour begins at 6 p.m., and music will be provided by harpist Dayna Rockett.
The keynote address will be at 7 p.m., with dinner afterward prepared by Jeff’s Catering and consisting of prime rib sliced to order, baked stuffed chicken breast and seasoned haddock.
Local Bangor candidates will be in attendance, including state Sen. Nichi Farnham and state Rep. Jim Parker.

I think she would be doing all of Maine a big favor and stepping aside to allow for change. She has just been there to long as many of her counter-parts have and we need a change of thinking and how Washington operates.
All the party hacks line up to panhandle for patronage jobs. With that many cockroaches gathered in one place, someone should really call the Orkin man.
