ORONO, Maine — Police, who reportedly caught two underage people with fake identification cards on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, found two more on Friday, Sgt. Scott Scripture said Monday.
One of those caught Friday used a fake ID created online that listed some correct information, and the second person used a New Jersey driver’s license that was not his, the sergeant said.
Alexander Parenteau, 18, of North Yarmouth and Nicholas Cabral, 20, of Kennebunk both were caught after attempting to use fake IDs at the Thriftway supermarket, Scripture said. Both were charged with possession of a falsified identification.
Parenteau grabbed a 30-pack of beer and stayed around to speak with police officers after the clerk questioned his Internet-made identification card about 5 p.m. Friday, according to Scripture.
Cabral, who had the out-of-state ID, took off but the store clerk got a partial license plate number and police were able to track down the owner — Cabral’s mother. She called her son, who went to the police station and was charged, Scripture said.
Abigail Davis, 19, of Orono attempted to use a fake ID to get into The Roost on Mill Street on Wednesday night, and Brian O’Leary, 19, of Orono had an expired identification card that belonged to someone else that he tried to use to buy alcohol at Thriftway on Thursday night, Capt. Josh Ewing said last week.
O’Leary, who is a University of Maine student, also was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor around 10:50 p.m. Saturday by UMaine police, university spokesman Ron Lisnet said Monday.
Fake IDs are not uncommon in college towns, but Orono is seeing a lot more than normal, the police captain said. Numerous fake IDs were found in town last fall, Ewing has said.

By the way if you’re looking for a job, law enforcement does seem to be a growth industry in this state. Destroying the college careers of potentially hard working tax payers, 1 fake ID at a time.
