ELLSWORTH, Maine — Two people are facing alcohol-related charges in separate incidents after police conducted an underage drinking detail late last week.
Ellsworth police officers arrested a Bucksport woman Friday night on charges of operating a motor vehicle after habitual offender revocation and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants after she allegedly drove over a curb on Route 1 in front of a local furniture rent-to-own business.
In a report on the incident, Officer Chad Wilmot indicated that Katie Proulx, 23, blew out a tire on the vehicle she was driving when she drove over the curb. Proulx was given a breath test to gauge her blood alcohol content before being taken without further incident to Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Wilmot wrote in the report.
Earlier that day, shortly before 5 p.m., Ellsworth officers on the same detail charged Bonnie McCarthy, 20, of Ellsworth, with possession of a false ID and illegal transportation of liquor by a minor after she bought alcohol from a High Street convenience store, according to Ellsworth police Lt. Harold Page.

Need stiffer penalties for repeat offenders,But they will probably keep driving anyway.
Keep up the good work EPD in getting these loser drunks off the road…..MDEA is doing good too sweeping Ellsworth too lately for drugs. They need to make an example of Miss Katie………..
