MILLINOCKET – Irving Morrow, 84, died Feb. 5, 2012, at Millinocket Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Ashland, son of James and Annie (Moreau) Morrow.
Irving attended Ashland schools. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army until 1947 in the Grade Detachment Medical Department. He was stationed at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey and completed a tour of duty in Italy. He worked for Great Northern Paper Co. for 34 years and in 1986 retired as a groundwood foreman. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed playing cards with his many friends and his grandsons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his wife, Shirley, at their camper at Sourdahunk. He loved planting his vegetable garden, canning, and making pickles for family and friends.
Irving is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley (Cyr) Morrow; one son, Steve Erving and wife, Laurie Morrow, of Millinocket; five daughters, Sharon and her husband, Bill Jackson, of Oxford, Donna A. Morrison of Millinocket, Joann and her husband, Chris Dickinson, of Millinocket, Cathy Morrow and Steve Pulkkinen of Enfield, Conn., and Lori and her husband, Paul Donley, of Millinocket; 11 grandchildren, Kristopher Hersey of Millinocket, Garrett Hersey of Norway, Maine, Rachael Jackson Follansbee and Bret Jackson of South Paris, Joe Montgomery of Utica, N.Y., John Montgomery of Millinocket, Matthew Montgomery of Kennebunk, Melissa Pulkkinen Gray of New York City, Kristin Pulkkinen of Enfield, Conn., Samantha and Molly Donley of Millinocket; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kristina Hersey of Millinocket, Makayla and Patrick Hersey of Norway, Maine, Kayleigh Follansbee of South Paris, James Montgomery of Kennebunk, and Hudson Gray of New York City; six step-grandchildren, Thomas Ambrose, Dana Marstin, Joshua and TJ Dickinson, Matthew Donley and Bryan Stone; one sister, Geneva Jean (Morrow) Michaud of Medway; and one brother-in-law, Kenny Cyr of Millinocket. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Adeline MacPherson and Avis Naspinski; three brothers, Elden and Hermon Morrow, and George Burby; son-in-law, Allen Morrison; several nieces and nephews.
The liturgy of the Word and Communion will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with a gathering at St. Martin’s parish hall. Relatives and friends are invited to call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Lamson Funeral Home. A military graveside service will be held at a later date.
