DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Heather Michelle Lopes, beloved wife of Paul; mother of Matt and Michelle; daughter of Gail (Parks) Krass; sister of John P. Krass and his wife, Karen, and Anne Dale and her husband, Harry, went into the light Feb. 2, 2012, after a valiant battle with myxofibrosarcoma. She was surrounded in love by her brothers-in-law, Daniel, James and Mike Lopes; sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Kimberly Lopes; mother-in-law, Irene Lopes; aunts, Donna, Molly Jeanne, Jackie and Gerry; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by all of them.

Heather was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Bentley University and a Master of Business Administration from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She was employed at EFD Inc. for 12 years before making a career change to the field of education. She was a graduate of the TEACH! SouthCoast Initiative Program. She taught one year at Global Learning Charter School, New Bedford, Mass. She was a dedicated advocate and past president of Dartmouth Special Education Parent Advisory Council.

Heather was predeceased by her father, John G. Krass.

Calling hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, Mass. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Grace Episcopal Church, corner of County and School streets, New Bedford, Mass.
