FORT KENT – Rose M. (Gagnon) Charette went home peacefully Feb. 3, 2012, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rose was born Nov. 20, 1949, daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian (Martin) Gagnon.
She is survived by numerous brothers and sisters; as well as by her husband, Alphonse; sons, Brian and Roderick; daughter, Nicole; and grandchildren, Amanda, Michaela, Luke, Tony and Theo.
Rose was a devoted contributor to her community as an admired teacher for 36 years; as a volunteer for Channel 4, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Majorettes; and as a ardent supporter of our local veterans. She was Fort Kent’s 2011 Citizen of the Year, recognizing these many contributions and accomplishments.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. In accordance to Rose’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, care of Northern Maine Medical Center, 194 East Main St. Fort Kent, ME 04743. Funeral services are in the care of Daigle Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
