BANGOR, Maine — A person who called police early Thursday reported a man was chasing a woman with a weapon near the corner of Ohio and Hammond streets, but no weapon was found when police caught up with them, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
“The caller said she was being chased with a knife” around 1:15 a.m., the sergeant said. “They located them both, and no knife was found.”
The 48-year-old local woman, however, did have a protection order against Frank Tripp, 43, of Bangor that bars him from contacting her, Edwards said.
He was arrested on nearby Clinton Street and charged with violating the protection order, the sergeant said.
The woman, who is his former girlfriend, was not injured.
Police have dealt with Tripp before, according to stories and court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News.
Tripp was convicted of assaulting the same woman in June 2011. He was arrested on Sept. 23, 2011, and charged with felony domestic violence assault and for violating a protection order she had, Edwards said at the time. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

In the immortal words of Janet Jackson ! CONTROL , dude find some self control !
I just imagine he will be let out on bail.
Are those new bail rules that Justice Saufly(sp) talked about in place yet? This man, if allowed to roam at large, will end up doing some serious damage to that woman.
I Agree, we all can see that train wreck coming, All the more reason . .

Did you change the saying
How many taxpayers dollars are you wasting with your broken record strategy of crime fighting? Just curious?
We wonder and wring our hands when a terrible tragedy happens like it did with the Lake Family last summer. We had a group investigating how it could have happen.ed and we make recommendations so that it won’t happen again. Well read this article THIS is HOW it Happens. This man has attacked and ignored three protection or bail orders. If the worst happens. We will once again wring our hands and wonder what we can do. We have a chance to save this woman’s life now. Keep him in jail. It is obvious that PO”s mean nothing to him. let’s not wait until it is too late for her.
Another rock solid protection order…
I can’t believe that happened in that upper class neighborhood. Urban Renewal – Tear that section of town down and put in a trailer park.
What is it with this Zappa wanna be? A felony charge for hurting the same women before? What is the state waiting for, to have him kill her and then give him a six month sentence with 4 months suspended and let him “get the help that he needs?” Throw the book at this nimrod.
I think the Doobie Brothers or perhaps Three Dog Night might be the inspiration for his hair style.
And the Beatles song “Helter Skelter” for his scary attitude XP
dirt bag
Lock him up – keep him there.
He’s pretty
ha ha ha
He is a good guy. He needs help. Dont judge him. He wouldnt hurt a fly. He truly is doing his best to fit in with society. Dont judge, dont hate!
I just wanted to get that out of the way before some other person could post excuses for this person.
My real opinion is that he needs to be in jail for awhile.
Saturdays paper will read: , post bail today back on the streets tomorrow skalking her with a knife.
If Maine had the Three Strikes Law we probably wouldn’t be reading about Tripp but if we were we’d be reading about how he’d spend the rest of his days in a Fed. Pen. without the possibility of parole.
If Maine had the 3 strikes law about 75% of the population of Bangor would be behind bars. ha ha ha
Clearly the system continues to fail this woman. The police are unable to protect her. She needs a gun and a permit to carry.
I think the system is failing us all both men and women, but, I am skeptical about letting certain people own guns. Not to sound like a bigot but women can totally get away with murder of someone she doesn’t like simply by lying and telling the cops it was self defense. Sorry but it’s true. America is bigoted towards men these days. I’m not saying all women are like this but it happens a lot. Anyway, this statement has nothing to do with this Frank guy. I’m just saying that we need to think carefully before turning this into the Wild Wild West. There are certain people that are in a lower Socio-economic status that often abuse both alcohol and drugs, they are also less educated and less likely to use a cool head in a bad situation. These are not the types of people you want to just hand guns out to at random.
This is the kind of person who should just sit in jail and rot! He will not listen to any Judge.
I know people that will vouch for that. This guy has a scary interest in knives and knows how to hide them. I understand people carrying them for protection but this guy has been known to randomly threaten people with them.
Sounds like it shouldn’t be hard for the woman to find a second witness to tell of the same overt account or already hold enough fact to prove the account(s); therefore, I think the protection from abuse orders should hold wait.
Where is our governor? He was real big on stopping domestic violence. Oh wait first you have to get rid of murals, welfare and then shut the schools down…
