OLD TOWN, Maine — A Bangor man who is barred by court order from being with a woman he was arrested for assaulting last month attempted to hide Wednesday night when police showed up at her Dartmouth Street residence, Old Town police Sgt. Michael Hashey said.
Tyler Thomas, 18, was standing shirtless in a window around 5:40 p.m. when Hashey drove up in his cruiser.
“He tried to hide and turned off all the lights,” the sergeant said.
Repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, and police ended up breaking a window pane in the front door to gain access to the residence, Hashey said.
“Officer Ryan Fitch found him hiding in a box in the closet with clothes on top of him,” the sergeant said.
Thomas was arrested for violating his bail conditions and taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He was out on bail because “he was arrested on the 12th of January for domestic violence assault at that residence,” the sergeant said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

Haha. The old hide-and-seek in the box in the closet trick. It’s amazing the cops thought to look there. I remember being a young kid and that was my go to.
I was really hoping this fellas name was Jack.
“A Bangor man who is bared by court order”…”was standing shirtless in a window”. At least he was following the court order.
Yes. One of the only reasons left to read these online papers anymore!
They’re getting faster at fixing the typos, they must be reading the comments!

Hey Tyler, the old turn the lights off and jump in the box works really well BEFORE the Bangor PD shows. After they actually see you ….well you know….back to jail. Most of these guys have a criminal justice degree….the college probably covers the “hide in the closet thing” at some point.
When did Bangor Or brewer show, its old town
Stuck my city there, oops
Next time, try under the bed.
Great job arresting him. But, breaking a window of her residence could be a problem. Search warrant I hope was first obtained to go get him.
no need for a search warrant he was seen by the officer in the window.
really…ok I didn’t think so. Thanks for the correction. Lets see what the lawyers say I guess
….
How big was this box?? How to heck does a grown man get into a box?? This guy should be working a magic act or in the circus…..
He must already be in a circus…He is back out on bail…
mmmm basil….lol
He should be doing thyme…
Breaking a window to get into her apartment . Ya think she might have invited him over? That seems a little extreme what if they did not find him ? Would his word that he thought he saw him vindicate the cop from being charged with breaking and entering? What a waste of tax payer money and police time. They must still be in love.
The cops should have taped up the box with him still in it.. Write To Mongolia on the box. . Then dropped off the box at the post office.
OMG!! LMAO!!! Good one!!
Got to learn to think “out of the box”.
Hm, apparently someone is a big fan of Metal Gear Solid.
WTG…he assaults you…goes to jail….and you still have him shirtless in your apartment…hmmmm
We’ll just rename him “Jack”.
Put a lamp shade on your head and stand in the corner. The police will never find you!
She should be arrested for having him there after the first incident…..
I totally agree. These domestic cases need to involve BOTH parties. Too much of this girly calls the cops on little boy…………very costly
The story doesn’t say she let him in. If they had to break in, then maybe she was out and did not know he was in there. But If she DID let him in, thats different. Her name should be in the paper and also be charged with violating the protection order.
Another case of reporting suspected domestic issues and the two are back together. Put them in jail together and give them BOTH a criminal record, not just him!!!
“nobody wants to play with a Tyler in the box” stuck on the island of misfit toys….
Ever hear of the phrase…. Dumber than a box of rocks. Well here is the poster child.
It sounds like he wasn’t thinking outside the box
Im livin in a box ! Im livin in a cardboard box ! Im livin in a box ! I think i just dated myself with that song !
…as a child he must have exceeded in games of Hide and Seek.
