LEWISTON, Maine — An elderly woman cheated serious injury Thursday afternoon when the car she was driving overturned on a one-way street, according to police.
Lewiston police Sgt. David St. Pierre said Jacqueline Proulx, 82, of Auburn was traveling down Ash Street toward downtown to do some errands when her 2011 Ford Fusion struck a parked car and overturned.
Proulx, who suffered a scraped hand and minor upper back pain, told police that another motorist was “encroaching too much on her,” St. Pierre said, causing her to overcorrect and strike a parked Volkswagen owned by Carol Boldt of Bridgton.
St. Pierre said officers were still ironing out the details late Thursday afternoon.
“We’re not sure what car was in the proper lane at this point,” he said.
Proulx was alert and talking to police as they freed her from the car, the sergeant said, and her vehicle was totaled.
Well I think it is time for her to stop driving if a vehicle coming up behind her causes her to overcorrect and crash.
Jacqueline seems to be a pretty tough old girl, I guess you could say she knows how to “roll” with the punches.
Maybe they are done with the teens now and will pick on the elderly again. As the world turns……
