CORINNA – Mary E. Perkins, 93, died Feb. 9, 2012, in Hartland. She was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Plymouth, a daughter of Guy and Linnie (Raynes) Rollins.

Mary graduated from Newport High School and attended Eastern State Normal School, Castine. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Maine, Orono, in 1962. She taught elementary school for more than 35 years, retiring in 1975. She then served as librarian for Stewart Free Library from 1975 to 1995. Mary was a member of Corinna United Methodist Church, Corinna Post No. 73 American Legion Auxiliary, Corinna Literary Club and Amicus Club. For the past four years Mary lived at Sanfield Rehabilitation and Living Center, Hartland, where she received loving care.

She is survived by a daughter, Betsy and husband, Roland Dorman, of Corinna; three granddaughters, Sara Cyr of Exeter, Susan Velardi of Middlefield, Conn., and Lynne Fling of Leicester, Mass.; seven great-grandchildren, Shannon and Maureen O’Roak, Bryan and Molly Shields, Grace Velardi, and Devon and Alyssa Fling; daughter-in-law, Holly Pastore, of Freeport; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Paul Dean Perkins, in 1995; her son, Joseph Dean Perkins, in 1990; brothers, Harvard and Rodney Rollins; and a sister, Dorothy R. Cookson.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Corinna United Methodist Church, 16 Dexter Road, Corinna, with the Rev. Angela Tarbox officiating. Spring burial will be at Morse’s Corner Cemetery, Corinna.
