PORTLAND, Maine — Republican presidential contender Ron Paul says he wishes all the Maine caucuses would have met on Saturday.

The Maine GOP chairman declared rival Mitt Romney the victor in Maine even though several places in the state won’t hold their caucuses until next weekend.

Paul is addressing his supporters in Maine and telling them not to be discouraged. He says the momentum behind his candidacy will continue and he’s pledging not to go away. He also says — in his words — that the revolution continues.

The Texas congressman is calling the outcome a virtual tie, noting that he lost by a narrow margin and some caucuses weren’t included in the count.

  1. “Paul is addressing his supporters in Maine and telling them not to be discouraged. He says the momentum behind his candidacy will continue and he’s pledging not to go away.”

So, for ALL you Ron Paul supporters, don’t give up… keep sending in your support money!!

  2.   39 to36. While not a large margin is still a win. I’ll give it to you more votes to come, but a poor choise of words. A tie in hockey means a shoot out, Can not wait for that one!

  3. When is  Mr Paul going to get it? He has no chance at the nimination. He is to far to the right. He is simply hanging in so that the GOP has to recognise his son at the Convention.

    1. Some of Maine’s caucuses were postponed and not held today. State Republican Chairman Charlie Webster said, “Their results will not be factored in. The absent votes will not be factored into this announcement after the fact.”

Romney allegedly beat Ron Paul by 194 votes in Maine. The caucuses that were postponed are in areas where Ron Paul has tremendous support. The political powers simply could not stomach letting Ron Paul win and having that be on the minds of voters for 2 weeks before the next states vote. They have even decided that the results from the future caucuses will not even be factored into the count. I thought we lived in democracy? The people of Maine need to really raise a stink about this!

      1. Let’s hope the people of Maine raise a stink about this…if the absent votes are not being counted in, the caucuses that were postponed may as well not even be held.  The state wants to play one side to the New England boy down south, another Boston fetish this state has.

  4. Per my comment on the related article, who cares?  Miniscule number of votes.  Apparently nothing more than a “beauty contest”.

  5. Why would the GOP chairman declare anything until all the caucuses were conducted?
Looks like Mitt’s money got “spread around” allright.
    Ron Paul 2012

    1. “Why would the GOP chairman declare anything until all the caucuses were conducted? ”

To prove how much Maine needs stricter, more Big Government,
laws to avoid all the evils of  (unsanctioned) voter fraud, may-be   ?

      1. Precisely.  He’s worried about out of state interests stealing our four electoral votes while he makes off with the caucus results all by himself!!

        1. At trial will he say he was just following the orders of his betters,
the Glorious Leaders at the Heritage Foundations ?

          1. Wow…okay.  I do think you give the national leadership too much credit.  When Karl Rove actually thinks Clint Eastwood is “secretly” supporting Barack Obama by selling Jeeps, you know my Party isn’t properly focused.

      2. But I thought it was only liberal college kids, illegal aliens and welfare cheats who engage in voter fraud?

  6. Vassalboro went for Romney over Paul 3-1.  Romney’s momentum is building.  (That 3 to 1 is the actual vote.) And Santorum was right on Romney’s heels with 2.

    1. So what does that say about Romney touting a less-than 200 vote victory out of 5000 cast in a small state like Maine?

The Romney camp is freaking becasue they are beginning to realize the exact same thing!

No worries for Paul…the straw poll win was not the goal on Saturday, it’s the delegates in May that we are going to secure for Paul that is the goal and beleive me, we WILL take the delegates at the state convention

  7. It’s not that I disagree with most of what Ron Paul says, and I would vote for him over Obama in a heartbeat, but for God’s sake…. can there be a more diminutive, cooky, foolish old man running for president?!  He is such a goofy little old  fuddy-duddy.  Now if we had Ron Paul’s brain in Mitt Romney’s body, that would = electable.  Sad but true.  Look at Clinton, he was a complete bone compared to Ron Paul in terms of policy and logic, but he had the look.  Ron Paul’s unrealistic foreign policy doesn’t help him either.  Maine will be the closest thing he will be able to call a victory.

    1. Yea, we don’t care about intellectual statesman like qualities, we just need someone who looks like a fashion model.

    2. and sadly that is just how the majority of Americans decide who to vote for, like they all think we live in a hollywood movie, Abraham Lincoln couldn’t get elected today, not “pretty” enough for the superficial majority, and then everyone wonders why the country is in such terrible shape, think about it, the really really smart people we went to school with were rarely the best looking

    3. And for your support of American Idol in our political process you get…yeah, you guessed it…Tyranny and the right to have the military show up at your home in the middle of the night, no questions asked, and lock you up under suspicion that you are a “threat”…

thankfully, we elected that good looking guy!!

      1. I get the fact that it is wrong to judge a book by its cover, I am just saying that over here in the real world, where 90% of people do that either conciously or subconciously, Ron Paul doesn’t stand a chance.  I hate how every time he answers a question he has this sheepish-grin / frazzled eyebrow thing going on, he just looks absurd and out of touch.  He reminds me of the wide-eyed heaven’s gate guy who made the videos back when, and at times, sounds about the same.

  8. Don’t forget February 14 is Love Dr Paul MONEY BOMB!  I know times are tight but consider donating 5$  10$ 20$ towards his campaign. You can also purchase thsirts and bumper stickers and the profit goes to the campaign.

  9. What people need to remember is that the poll is meaningless. It is about delegates to the state convention and Ron Paul will have a majority. He may have lost the poll but will still get the state’s 21 delegates to the national convention.

    1. This is true, but we’re talking about the MSM and sheeple following what they are told.  People just believe the narratives now isntead of digging to find the truth.  The narratives are easier and fighting for one’s liberty and freedom to prevent what amounts to modern-day human slavery just takes too much time these days.

  10. Wow, Ron, quite the claim: a virtual tie in a non-binding preference poll taken among a minimal number of party faithful in a minor state. Real bragging rights, huh?

    1. The media doesn’t want Ron paul to win.
They want more business as usual, corrupt, sleazy, special interest politicians like Romney.

      The elections are rigged.
      It doesn’t matter anymore.

    1. Wanting the government to defend individual’s rights, property rights, and the country; and respect the constitution  is anarchy?

  11. What about Washington County in Maine? only one precinct voted and Ron Paul won 5, Santorum won 3, Gingrich 2 and Romney got -0-…48 Precincts and only one shows votes.???
The Maine State Chairman,  Charlie Webster … said any caucus results that come in after
Saturday wouldn’t be counted no matter how close the vote turned out to
    be.” Also see VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-76mjsJbHNw&feature=colike

  12. WAKE UP MAINE! Who runs the state, the GOP or the People ??? Complain wildly! Let the GOP of Maine kn ow that you want the rest of the vote counted and the real winner proclaimed!!

    1. Washington county GOP cancelled the caucus because of a small snow storm.  The Girl Scouts had an assembly and didn’t cancel; what does that say?

To think that the poorest county in the state would vote for a rich man who wears blue jeans broken in by his gardener, is absurd.

Charlie Webster, is like a fallen angel, he can tell no truth.

This whole situation smells like dead fish heads on a fruitful fishing day, it stinks but it smells of money, for somebody. The scavengers are pleased, mostly crows and seagulls of course.
       We must be civil.
Doctor Ron Paul is the winner by 4 votes, take it to the bank.

  13. We all know that Mitt Romney is an un-American corporate shill with an agenda to force RomneyCare, subvert the 2nd Amendment, hurt the American worker and support the Obama-Quimby National Park, but why is Ron Paul afraid to say he is against Quimby….?

    No Statement- No Vote

  14. Paul Supporters contact Maine Secretary of State and the Maine RNC to voice your outrage over  the release of votes before all counties are reported. There is no declared winner until all votes are counted.  Plus to cancel a County because of a 1 -2 inch snowfall in Maine is an OUTRAGE!

  15.  The Republican party leadership has already decided that Romney won. End of story. No need to count any more ballots.

  16. Washington county GOP cancelled the caucus because of a small snow storm.  The Girl Scouts had an assembly and didn’t cancel; what does that say?

Doctor Ron Paul won the caucus by 4 votes and the coverup is intentional deceit.
Whoever participates in this election fraud will be brought to justice and pay for their indiscretion, or maybe their criminal intent; time will tell.

Anybody remember the balloting stuffing affair about 20 years ago by speaker John Martin?  Some things nevah change.
