BANGOR, Maine — The Pulse (103.1 FM, 620 AM) and Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center teamed up Tuesday to hand out free condoms, Hershey’s Kisses and other freebies in West Market Square in downtown Bangor.

The event coincides with Condom Awareness Week, a national campaign to raise awareness about the importance of condom use.

The Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center is distributing 2,000 condoms from February 12 to 18.

  1. Thats some good work there, lord knows we need to keep most of the young people that hang around west market square from reproducing just because they can !

      1. That’s funny…I thought the exact same thing! When I was heading out for lunch she asked me, as I made a wide birth around the booth, if I wanted a kiss and I politely said “No Thank you!” She said “You’re breaking this woman’s heart” so I said something about meeting my Valentine for lunch and kept on walking.

  2. I know they said this is for “Condom Awareness Week” but I think it has more to do with the recent Obamacare mandate concerning contraception/sterilization/abortion and religious organizations/insurance companies………..

  3. Maines redneck version of Media Matters is about 1 Admin late with the condoms.Sure could have used them with the s—-ing we got.Maybe the dems can pin them on their shirt to tell everyone who they voted for.

  4. (WARNING MY ATTEMPT AT HUMOR))  Kisses Condoms handed out in downtown Bangor.. Man when i saw that picture of that attractive woman i thought id go see her for a kiss.. Then I read on.. I was so disappointed.. I’m a diabetic i cant eat the chocolate..

  5. Just Saying…if we have to have a Condom Awareness, those people should not be even thinking about having sex.

    1. Be careful of that word “should.” It’s easy to tell other people what they should do.
Most people between puberty and senility are likely to be periodically “thinking about having sex.”

    1. Seriously… I’m trying to imagine a situation in which the liberal whiners could be hypocritical and complain about WVOM and some conservative entity doing a similar set up in downtown Bangor, except I can’t think of one since WVOM is way too busy banking mad money from being a functional and popular business enterprise.  So they don’t have time for seemingly awesome downtown condom hand-outs I guess.

    1. Hey now…. It’s more like 10 listeners, the 5 employees have no choice but to listen as they work, so them plus Emily Cain and a few foreign exchange students who don’t understand English round out the 10 total.

    2.  You wish.  The 103.1 is finally bringing some intelligent discussion to the local talk radio scene.  No more of those blow hards on VOM for me.

      1. Your comment works both as the inane rambling of a tone deaf marxist liberal and as a sarcastic slam from a witty conservative pretending to be a tone-deaf marxist liberal.

    1. Lets mess with the Chinese , lets take a bunch of the condoms they sent us. Send all the larges back to them with defective tags and write these were incorrectly labeled, they are small !

  6. Look at the fat dude on the bench in the background of the photo.  He’s scarfing down a Hersey kiss and looking at the condom like, “wtf is this”?

  7. Surprised Rick Santorum wasn’t there to stop the free condoms. Telling the women to go back to their homes.

  8. A free condom is worth exactly what it cost you.   Nothing.  She’d have done better passing out free coupons for mammograms.  But then again , that doesn’t generate future customers for the health center quite as well.

  9. Pat LaMarche the liberal teaming up with Mabel Wadsworth’s abortion clinic–it is not a women’s health center.  And,  guess I won’t be listening to the Bangor/Brewer girls’ game tonight, since it is on 620 AM.  Ironic that 103.1 is called The Pulse–a baby’s pulse is forever gone, when the child is killed in the womb at this “health center.”

  10. Half the people that receive the free condoms are gonna fill em with bath salts stick em in a body cavity and deliver them to friends at the county jail.

  11. So a grown woman handing out condoms couldn’t even say the word ‘sex’ (in reference to the video).  I don’t get good radio reception where I live so I haven’t heard their show, but these people sound immature, not sure if I’d rely on them for any type of reporting. Maybe that comes off as
harsh, but did anyone else notice that? I’m not against handing out of the condoms or anything…

    1. Her show is sooo boring. I believe Stephen King is doing it as a tax write off, because he certainly can’t be making any money.

  12. Christopher Ruhlin:  Typical liberal response to a conservative, who according to you does not have the right to an opinion.  Check out Mabel Wadsworth “health center,” and you will find that killing unborn babies is the main goal–no pulse, no life for the unborn baby.

  13. When I was a kid I saw a tire company truck that had a sign on it that said ” Herculees , best rubber on the road ” , I think of it every time the word condom is mentioned…….I must add that my comment is no more foolish than handing out condoms on valentines day !
