MAPLETON – Russell R. McCloskey, 80, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Kato, Pa., the son of Russell R. and Zella (Jodun) McCloskey.
Russell served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and upon his retirement went to work as a forest ranger for the Maine Department of Conservation. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish, as well as trap.
He is survived by a son, Terry McCloskey and his wife, Lauren, and their two daughters, Kiley and Meghan, of Brewer; a daughter, Connie DeVany and her husband, Robert, of Easton and their son, Adam Umphrey, of Mapleton; a daughter, Vicky Bell and her husband, John, and their two children, Nicholas and Angela, of Lincoln, Ill.; a sister, Betty Powell of Lockhaven, Pa.; and good friend, Vernie Dean of Mapleton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Sara Zener.
