MILLINOCKET – Paul Robert Wedge joined his parents, Leonard and Geraldine Wedge, and his brother, Leonard Wedge, Feb. 12, 2012. He was born July 11, 1947, in Millinocket.
Paul grew up in Millinocket with his parents, five siblings, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a 1967 Stearns High School graduate. Paul proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War Era, stationed in Germany as a paratrooper. After his enlistment, Paul worked at Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, before moving to Rochester, N.Y., to work for Kodak. In the late ’70s, Paul returned home to work at Great Northern Paper Co. Paul was well known for his great sense of humor, warmth, deep-rooted friendships, and ability to make people laugh at his pranks and jokes. Those who knew Paul will never forget his big, wonderful smile.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law of Millinocket, Larry and Patty Wedge and Kenny and Carole Wedge; his sisters and brothers-in-law of Rochester, N.Y., Betty and Dick Bears and Sara and John Illingworth; his sister-in-law, Susanne Wedge of Scarborough; his wife, Jayleen (Manzo) Wedge of Ellsworth; the mother of his children, Betsey (Haight) Wedge; his daughter, Kellie Wedge, D.V.M., of Washington state; his son, Lenny Wedge of Warren; and his stepdaughter, Angela Manzo. His grandchildren include Zachary, Chelsea, Tyler, Derek, Jeremy and Jada. Most recently the family welcomed Paul’s first great-grandchild, Kimmy Wedge. Paul had more than a dozen nieces and nephews who all loved and will greatly miss their “Uncle Paul.”
There will be a gathering to honor Paul 3-7 p.m. Feb. 16 at the American Legion Hall, Millinocket. Because Paul loved Millinocket Lake, the family will also have a celebration of life there in the spring.
