GARDINER, Maine — A local man is facing charges after police say he shot at his girlfriend’s pickup truck during a domestic dispute Wednesday evening.

Allie Vigue, 58, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct with a firearm, a Class B felony, and criminal mischief, a Class D misdemeanor, Gardiner Police Chief James Tolman said.

After Vigue discharged his weapon, he allegedly barricaded himself inside his home and refused to cooperate with police, the chief said.

“The perimeter was surrounded, and after several attempts he came outside and made contact with us,” Tolman said. “Because of the shots being fired with a high-powered rifle, he didn’t immediately acknowledge our presence.”

The disturbance was reported just before 6:30 p.m., Tolman added.

Vigue had fired shots into the engine of his girlfriend’s truck with her standing near the vehicle, according to Tolman. The woman was not injured, but the chief said it could have been worse.

“The engine was shot at through the radiator,” Tolman said.

Vigue eventually surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Kennebec County Jail, where he is being held on $5,000 cash bail. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the Class B reckless conduct charge and an additional year on the criminal mischief count.

State police and Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted at the scene.
