BANGOR and HOULTON – Joel E. McLaughlin, 66, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at a Bangor hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1945, in Houlton, the son of Donald A. and Ethel W. McLaughlin.
He graduated from Houlton High School in 1964 and attended Wentworth College, Boston, and Husson University, Bangor. Joel retired from Lane Construction Co., where he worked for more than 30 years as the senior mechanical supervisor in their Bangor office. He loved the muscle cars of the 1960s and enjoyed spending time at East Grand Lake with family and friends.
Joel is survived by his brother, Mac and his wife, Marion, of Sidney; nephew, Shane W. McLaughlin and his wife, Meg; two great-nephews, Cameron and Tristan of Durham; niece, Ashlee L. McLaughlin of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; and aunt, Jean W. Terry of Williamsburg, Va. Joel was predeceased by his parents; and his nephew, Ryan C. McLaughlin.
At Joel’s request, interment will be private for the family later in the year. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
