ST. AGATHA and FORT KENT – Richard “Dick” Derosier, 61, passed away peacefully Feb. 18, 2012, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer and complications related to a heart disease at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born July 14, 1950, in St. Agatha, son of Luke Sr. and Pauline (Jacques) Derosier.

He was a graduate of Wisdom/Middle High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard for five years from 1969 to 1974 with the Charlie Company in Fort Kent. His passion for cooking commenced during his time in the military. He retired from St. Agatha Volunteer Fire Department and emergency dispatch operator after 25 years of service. His love for farming was exemplified when he farmed potatoes with his father at age 13 and proceeded to farm on his own until 1989. From a very young age, Dick was always a high-energy person and had a determination to fulfill multiple dreams. His goal in life was to please others with a motto, “If you’re happy, I’m happy!” He loved the outdoors and cooking. He found his soul mate and partner for life when he married Carol Lizotte. Together they founded Lakeview Restaurant in 1983 and for the following 28 years they have diligently provided great food and service to people far and near. The Lakeview Campground was established in 1996. The success of the restaurant and campground gave Dick the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and share his love of nature with family and friends. He always had a positive outlook on life and was an inspiration to all. He loved being with family and traveling with his wife. He took pleasure in gambling with friends. He took pride in gardening vegetables. Dick will be dearly missed by his loving family, relatives and friends.
