VAN BUREN – Jeannette (Masse) Cyr, 97, died Feb. 26, 2012, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Van Buren, daughter of Antoine and Wilhemine (Levesque) Masse.
She enjoyed many things in her long life, including music, dancing, playing cards, knitting, watching TV and traveling, especially to Grand Falls to visit with friends. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her large family. She had worked at the former Van Buren Community Hospital for many years. She married Fred P. Cyr, Aug. 5, 1931.
Jeannette is survived by six children, Herby and wife, Jackie Cyr, Lillian and husband, Herman Ouellette, Verna and husband, Donald Gagnon, all of Van Buren, Carlene Herbert of Caribou, Rita Cyr of Connecticut, and Russ and wife, Sylvia Cyr, of Millinocket; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Fred P. Cyr, in 1960, one son, Maynard Cyr, in 2007; and daughter Noella Ouellette, in 2011.
Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 2, and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be at the parish cemetery.
