SORRENTO – John Kalkow, 84, died Feb. 22, 2012, at his residence. He was born July 28, 1927, in Newburyport, Mass., son of John D. and Catherine (Baron) Kalkow.
He attended Manchester (Conn.) College, University of Hartford and Central Connecticut State College. John served in the U.S. Maritime Coast Guard during World War II and the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. He worked 17 years as a manager of a sports club and 13 years in vocational/technical education. He was a member of P.M. Columbia Lodge, East Haddam, Conn.; an all York Rite Bodies and York Rite Cross of Honor recipient, Y.R.C.H.; a past patron of Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of American Legion Post 207, Trenton.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jane; and brother, Stanley Kalkow.
A memorial service will be announced and held in the spring.
