NORWAY, Maine — A Paris man was charged with burglary Tuesday after a homeowner chased him down on Pleasant Street, tackled him and waited for police to arrive.

Jonathan Bulliner, 22, was charged with burglary, theft, violation of condition of release and criminal mischief Tuesday morning after he was chased by Jack Day, whose home on Penn Road was broken into.

Bulliner also has warrants on charges of domestic assault, disorderly conduct and violating condition of release.

Norway police officer Robert Federico II said Bulliner was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both civil charges.

According to Federico, carpenter Douglas Kilgore arrived at the home of Jack Day at around 8 a.m. Tuesday to talk to Day about work he’d done on Day’s home. Day wasn’t home, and Bulliner told Kilgore he was there to get items from his cousin.

Bulliner left the house on foot, walking down Pleasant Street toward downtown Norway. When Day and his wife, Stephanie, arrived shortly after, Kilgore told him what happened and Day realized he’d been the victim of a burglary.

Stephanie Day called the police while her husband and Kilgore chased after Bulliner.

Federico said that when he found Bulliner, Day had tackled him on Pleasant Street and was holding him down. Bulliner apologized to Day, and admitted what he’d done was stupid, Federico said.

He said Bulliner admitted to breaking in through the garage door. “He was, considering all things, quite cooperative,” Federico said. Bulliner took a coin collection, jewelry and a camera, Federico said.

According to Federico, there have been other break-ins in that neighborhood, including another burglary at Day’s home, but Bulliner denied any knowledge of those crimes.

Bulliner’s booking sheet listed his address as Warwick, R.I., but Federico said Bulliner describes himself as homeless and has been living with friends.

Bulliner was held at the Oxford County Jail on Tuesday and will appear in court Wednesday.

    1. as a joke I would love to see the injuries listed as  “while trying to escape he tripped and fell off the curb ,breaking both legs , left arm and 4 ribs.. he was then tackled by the homeowner  ,breaking his jaw.

    1. …”we’re not going to just let you walk out of here”
      ..”whose we?”
      ..”me and smith and wesson”

Who do these famous words belong to?

    1. The stars were in alignment this time for Mr. Day. Too bad they weren’t last time for him or for everyone all the time.

  1. Wait a minute. HOLD THE PHONE!

They found POT on him? Pot head…Crime?

I thought only real druggies committed crime…not pot heads.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

  2. If they are running away…….you CANT shoot them on the sidewalk people !!!   Your life must be in iminite (sp?) danger…or YOURE going to jail.

    1. You could drag him back home , bring him inside and shoot him !  Why mess up the house , let the law do their job. If this kid continues victinizing people of Maine he’ll eventually get shot.

  3. Just buy him a bus ticket back to Warwick R.I. and tell him if he comes back he goes to jail……Save us feeding and housing him.

  4. Are those cigarette burns on his face….I hope so….lucky he did not end up dead like the one in Hermon.

  5. “admitted what he’d done was stupid’.  Appears to be a string of stupidity in his 22 years.

Put him on a bus to Warwick and let him couch surf down there.

  6. Gee mr Jack Day your going to jail.  It was Bulliner right under the first amendment to break in your house and steal stuff.  What the hell were you doing running after him.  He was out of your house and of no harm to you  You scard a poor man and then assaulted him by tackling him and he got hurt (poor thing) You should have called the cops and waited patiently until they arrived then they could of done their thing. Ya see now your going away for a couple years and bullimer is sueing you for your nasty treatment of him.  People this is what the world is coming to Nothing is yours, younhave no rights to protect yourself or your property.  America is great ain’t it?

  7. The theif was on public assistance, despite having a warrant out for his arrest.  The local police station is located in the same building where this guy went to get public assistance.  But, apparently, there is no requirement for the welfare officer to walk around the corner and ask if there are any arrest warrants outstanding for these professional hand-out takers.

I was not the victim; each of you were victims of political correctness, liberal policies and lazy prosecutors.

Please tell your legislator and your local DA that you are sick of the myriad of liberal, public policy failures.

    Thank you.
